X-FI CMSS in Vista?

I noticed that unlike XP, when I set my speakers to headphone in the x-fi control panel, there is an option for CMSS-3D Virtual, but not CMSS-3D Headphone, like there was in XP.

I noticed this many months ago when I made the switch. I have also noticed that the positional effects of CMSS seem less pronounced under vista.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? My understanding is that CMSS-3D Virtual was intended for speakers, not headphones. CMSS-3D Headphone is the setting that is supposed to enhance headphones.

set vista to 5.1 first then use the cmss headphones setting
