wtf is wrong with my steam

I have been out of town for a couple weeks. I have like 8 game updates and steam either just doesn't download or downloads in slow bursts stating the disk is busy. I haven't had this happen before and its taking forever to update because of this. Ran speedtest and I am getting 30Mb down. Help?
 
This is a known issue with the Beta client. I recommend unsubscribing from the Steam client beta. This can be found in the menu.. Steam>Settings>Account tab.
 
I never got around to making this thread. I think what it actually implies is that Steam itself is busy processing files in some way; it sure as hell isn't the disk...
 
Ok having the beta client makes sense. I have it on so I can stream to the shield.
 
I had to turn off beta because it would crash every time I added a non-steam game to my list, lol.

Oh well
