Yep, checked there first, but cpus can be sketchy over there as there's a lot of fake stuff imported and sold regularly. Was hoping someone here might have one lying around as I trust the [H] more than the bay.Available on the bay:

An i7-860 is a much better part, but I'm guessing you need the IGP.
Unfortunately the 650 doesn't improve on the single thread performance by much, so it probably wouldn't be a worthwhile investment unless you want to offer it to me for something like $10 shipped.i have a i5-650 if you are interested.
Out of curiosity I googled trying to understand the difference between these dual core i5's and the i3's from the same lineup. Is there a difference?Yep, checked there first, but cpus can be sketchy over there as there's a lot of fake stuff imported and sold regularly. The i7-860 doesn't improve on the single thread performance of the i3-540 that's in this system currently, hence the i5-680:

Here's a good rundown of what I found out about what I have and what I'm looking for:Out of curiosity I googled trying to understand the difference between these dual core i5's and the i3's from the same lineup. Is there a difference?
Are you sure that isn't because of clock speed and turbo on the i5. I can't find anything different about these cpu's unless the igpu is different. Here's a good rundown of what I found out about what I have and what I'm looking for:

Except in the system I'm using it in, an HP Pro 3130, you can't overclock. Are you sure that isn't because of clock speed and turbo on the i5. I can't find anything different about these cpu's unless the igpu is different.
If you OC the i3 I think it would equal the i5, somebody please prove me wrong. I remember OCing my i3 540 to 4ghz on the stock cooler in an HTPC case. You should have no problems OCing that chip.
Well, it would but only if you're wanting to let it go for like $10 shipped as I won't need it for anything more than a single test.I don't suppose an i3-2120 would do you any good?
