Even a lower level SSD beats a regular HD. Those SSDs will be just fine for folding.
Yes, I use small Kingston SSDs on my dedicated folders and have no problems.
Because SSDs have fallen in price so much you can probably buy one new for less than if someone sold you a used one for half of what they paid for it.

I have 2x kingston 64gb ssd that i have been using for about a year now. I am upping to 2x128gb corsair only cause i want to put all my games on ssd's instead of install/uninstall. I may sell my ssd's or throw one in my netbook and other in external to save my AutoCAD and Revit drawings on. All in all they are good drives.
