WSE 2012 Designated Server Backup Drive?

So I installed WSE2012 and stablebits drive pool. Now I installed the connector software on my windows 7 machine. I'm trying to configure backups and it telling me I have no drives and cannot use drives in the storage pool (Well I can use them but it says it will reformat the hard drive). So I need to buy a dedicated hard drive just to do backups?

The server backup drive has to be non pooled internal drive or external drive. And Server 2012 will reformat it.
