can the wrong modem drivers cause a system to hang and lock up? i replaced a bad mobo in a friends system and when reinstalling things i think i installed the wrong modem driver. system is win2k and it is a v92 pctel modem .. there were a few drivers so i just picked the first one. it works about 50% of the time so i can not imagine it being the problem.

the first time you try to dial out (via netzero) the system will lock up. once you restart it and trry to dial out again it works fine.

    any ideas? thanks
