I was setting up my network shares after a fresh reload. Somehow I locked my self out of my drives. I can see the files but I cant modify them. I am set as administrator and gave my self full control. I think I may have locked my self out by removing some things form the sharing column I shouldn't have.... how do I fix this?

Vista right? It's super annoying.
Happened to me too.

Right click on the folder/drive

Click Security

Click Advanced

Click Owner

Click Edit

Click Other Users or Groups

Click the person you are trying to change ownership to, under the Change Owner To: dialogue

Click the checkbox replace owner on subcontainers and objects

click okay.

This will take some time, but will replace you as the owner on all your files. Vista's been doing this with all my external USB hard-drives. Heck it even did it to my games drive which is an internal hard-drive after I reinstall. It's making me crazy. I've yet to figure out how to turn it off as I'm still a newb in the Vista OS, but the steps outlined above have been around since Windows 2000.

Yeah, I figured it out before I saw this post. I somehow removed "Administrators" from being Owner. I took Ownership and moved it back to Administrators... all fixed.
