Blizzard has classically been a Windows/Mac developer only with their past games, and with good reason. Linux in past years has not been a viable gaming platform. But now that Linux has taken off, with many new games, such as doom3 and ut2004 supporting linux, Blizzard still has no openly published plans to make a Linux version of World of Warcraft.

This petition is being made in the attempt to convince Blizzard enough people are willing to use a native Linux port of World of Warcraft, to make it a viable consideration.

:/ I just thought some people on here might be interested. Personally, I use windows, but I'd consider linux if more games got out on it...

I should probably make the switch cause all I play is ut2k4 anyways..

Tribes 2, Serious Sam, Medal of Honor, Quake 3, UT2003 and 2004, America's Army, Neverwinter Nights, Civ 3, etc. The list goes on and on.

And in the future, Doom 3 will be on it as well as Quake 4.

What other games would you like?

unfortunately you'll never get some of the great strategy games, ie. AoE, AoM, RON...as long as they're made by microsoft ;p

Gee, I dunno, how about WoW? It's the topic. ;) Add to that current and future Blizzard games, MMORPGs, and most strategy.

Notice that your list is about 77% FPS.

True, you do get mostly FPS games in Linux. And anything from Microsoft will never end up in Linux so we can just stop wishing about that one.
But WoW will be out for OSX and OSX it built on BSD which is damn close to linux. I would think it would be easy for them to make a Linux port.
Planeshift is the only MMOPRG I know of available on Linux. And it's free too.
Using WineX you can play UO and EQ in Linux. Of course having to use an emulator ruins the game performance.

WINE: Wine Is Not an Emulator.

Anyway, back to the topic. I would love a linux port of WOW. Right now it's the only reason I boot into windows, and I hadn't done so for almost 3 months before I got into the beta last month.

I think the problem is that it comes down to economics. Not enough money in it for Blizzard to get their magic ROI number.
