Well, I finally made level 80 last week with my Belf Mage and it was alot of fun and I enjoyed the experience of going all the way up in WoW. I did a few high level raids and enjoyed it, but lately I've grown tired of having to put large sections of time into playing the game. True, I can easily just jump into it here and there but lately I feel i've had to put off more "important" things to do in my life, and it just kinda came to me "Man, theres alot more I could be doing with my time"
Not to say I blame WoW in any sense. The game is very involving and very enjoyable if your willing to put the time and effort into it, and even if you like to just partially play the game, it can be very rewarding. I guess an incident awhile ago with my girlfriend who was needing my "help" with something and I was torn between doing that and going on a city raid with a bunch of people started to get my mind in a frame of "Whats more important to me?"
Not only that, there are so many other games I'd like to enjoy and spend time playing. Its alot easier for me to simply hop onto say my Xbox 360 and play and hour or two of Halo 3 or Left 4 Dead and I can simply drop my controller and go take care of what needs to be done. No guilt in leaving people in my party or raid hi and dry, no feeling that i'm blowing of my responsiblities just to get "one more" kill to get that special loot.
I guess what im basically saying is, I decided to move to another server to start fresh if I decide to come back, deleted WoW from my computer and i'm gonna take a break and enjoy playing other games, learning and doing my new gun hobby and maybe start getting some more excersice in me.
Looking forward to the upcoming Star Wars Old Republic MMO, whenever that comes out as well as a host of other games that I can spend time and enjoy without having this nagging feeling of "guilt" being attached and committed to an MMO that requires a bit more sacrifice in my part.
Thanks Blizzard, its been fun, but I need a break. Maybe for awhile, maybe forever, dunno.
