World of Warcraft Classic

I decided to rejoin for 3 months. The last time I played was right before the first expansion came out. I start a new job in a week, so won't have much time to grind anymore, which is practically what WoW is all about.

I happened to have started on Azuresong, which is one of two low population servers. Good in that there's no waiting. Bad in that there's no one to group with.
Really that few people going about?

I'm attributing it to the sunk cost fallacy. I'm only 67000 in queue now, almost there! That, and I'm not playing nearly as religiously as I use to. Very good odds that everyone is already level 60 now except for me.

When the game came out originally, I was the third priest to hit level 70. Mainly because so few people were playing healers, that the second I hit level 50, I was being spammed to death by every level 60 to join them, and they practically carried me to 60.

I mean, the game is fun now, but I don't see it lasting. Part of what I enjoyed about my original stint was that it was new for everyone. Nobody knew what they were doing. That doesn't exist anymore. Even with modern games, it feels like every secret a game has is published 6 months before the game is even released.

I am fully expecting them to release BC, WOTLK, and Cata too. I'd love to see a system where you can transfer a toon through the expansions. So you could play classic until 60, enjoy being 60 for as long as you want, and then transfer that toon to a BC server to level to 70. You could stay at 70 and live there forever or move your toon to the WOTLK server.

With ever expansion, they made changes that generally had a positive affect on the @then top level, but negatively impacted the experience of the previous expansions. It would be really cool to have the ability to play through each expansion as it was when it was current content.

I was there the first time around. I'm good. I'll stay out and let you guys have fun this time and save you one spot in the queue.

Yea I'm quite curious to see the burnout rate. It's blown my mind how good every person is at this game. Doesn't feel like there exists a single noob. I used to feel special I'm that I was good at my class, not a keyboard turner, etc.. everyone's on this level now and I'm not special :( lol

Going to wait a couple weeks before I subscribe so things can die down a bit once people have their nostalgia fix and quit.

So, I got back my very old account. Apparently in the past 10-12 years or so it was compromised, but Blizzard recovered it.

All good I thought, but apparently when I went to pay for a subscription, I didn't select that account, and there's no way to merge them. So, my old account is still inaccessible unless I want to pay for that. I figure, I'll give this game 3 months, but I would have preferred if they could have merged accounts, rather than having it be it's own separate one.

Just hit level 40. Im disappointed that I am not in the 50s yet but my friend im playing with decided to use some leveling guide that had us walking everywhere and we probably wasted 8 hours walking.

I initially didn't get into Wow until near the end of BC, but i played until just before legion and then quit for 3 years. Didn't think i would every touch this game again, but a bunch of my pals at work are doing it so that got me interested. Don't think i am going to put in the same hours as i used but should be interesting for a while.

40 already??

Dude, you need to step away from WoW for the weekend or something lol

Well, fuck. I guess I'm in. I'm gonna play it again. But I won't concern myself with leveling fast, its gonna be a slow journey and hopefully and enjoyable one.

Join the Horde on Sulfuras!!

If your server has insane queue times still, install chrome remote desktop then get the app on your phone. Then you can remote into your PC from work and get into the queue early.

Well despite my fence sitting, I played it over the weekend.

I can't go back. I know nostalgia is a thing, but i have a zillion screenshots which can scratch that itch without actually having to spend a day just farming to cover repair costs and consumables.

BC fixed many of my main gripes (druid here), straight vanilla is digging too deep for me. It was fun at the time, especially coming from EQ which was player hostile to a level which is still amazing. But, can't go back now.

So... I’ve never played wow. But I’m thinking I want to try. Anyone willing to play with an absolute noob? Not new to mmorpg’s... just to wow.

Join us on KromKrush!

And download an Addon called "Questie"
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info24994-Questie.html

It should be a zip file. Extract that file into your World of Warcraft "Addons" Folder.

It will help you a great deal. It shows you where the objectives are for your quest on the game map.

Doing the same. Having a blast playing casually with some friends. We’re alliance on sulfuras. Lot of good memories with this game.

Alright I’ll look at it tonight. It’s not the game that ever put me off, it was the community I ran in to each tome I tried to start playing wow.

Im thinking of getting rid of my current guild. Its much to difficult now days to maintain, but I am open to joining one. Ask them if they need another Priest. Name is Zuule.

Are the starter zones (level 1-15) still overcrowded w/ massive competition for quest mobs/nodes ? I have been thinking of trying it out, but I am not interested in competing for basic progression.

Depending on what time you play, they were this weekend. But, from my experience, people were happy to group up to complete them.

From what I've seen the overcrowding has eased up and hasn't been much of an issue with zone layering.

I caved and signed up. Haven't played Alliance or a Rogue in like 14 years so...

It's actually kind of amazing how much they devalued the world and actually interacting with people in retail. You just zip around everywhere at 400mph flying over everything, or just teleporting to dungeons.

My experience as well, lot of grouping and meeting great people. Even added some of them to group with down the road.

The problem is 45m-1hr queue times. You basically have to log in around 5-530pm, before the rush starts. When I see the queue I just go and play some other game or do something else entirely. I’m hoping it gets better as time goes on, but who knows.

I'd love to give Classic a shot, but I simply don't have the time or resources to join a guild. And to hell with going in solo. I won't get anywhere without one. And with a kiddo now, I need to be able to jump away from the keyboard at any given time. Oh well.

Buddy is telling my Onyxia has already been dropped? That's crazy.

Have a perfect guild for you to join on Sulfuras-Alliance. Would fit your play style very well. Lot of helpful people while leveling, from questing to crafting. You really don’t have to invest an insane amount of time, it’s play as you go. Let me know if you’re interested.

Play a druid or a rogue or anything Night Elf so you can stealth when needed to afk.

Works wonders for me.

I appreciate the invite, but I'm going to hold off for now. I just don't have the time to commit just yet. Perhaps come winter time when its too damned cold to work in the garage.

Doesn't help in dungeons, escort quests, or raiding though. That's why I stick with Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, and FC5. I can just get up an go.
