You get Steam achievements plus dev updates on steam it's basically the only game I purchased in both launchers.

You guys talked me out of it I refunded it. 37.00 is 37.00
I paid 24.00 on Epic I like the Epic launcher for some games but not others like complex games like BG3 I rather own on Steam.

Oh God… oh god… don’t tempt me! I have 23 games on my must-play list already!

their latest Roadmap now says Early 2026 for the Final 1.0 release...5 major updates, 27 patches and 6 hotfixes since the game first entered Early Access on the Epic Store in September 2023...

I hate early access, part of me feels like it should be illegal.

I think this game has the potential to be sweet as hell in 1.0 form though.

I don't mind Early Access but it needs to be a reasonable amount of time and maybe give people who paid for EA some sort of discount...Witchfire looks like it'll be around 2.5 years before the 1.0 release...I agree that it does look really good

Yeah early adopters should get something for putting up money for a project that may never be finished. Still though, I’d have to think about this but when has this ever benefited the gamer? BG3 was a huge success and it was in EA for quite some time so maybe that’s the example, that game just happened to do little for me.

I feel like every EA game I’ve bought into was an absolute waste except for just one (or two inc the sequel), Subnautica. That’s the only game I bought in EA that I got super excited for every update, even if it meant trashed saves and starting over.

I think this, and maybe even the new Painkiller, have the potential to be better than Doom: Dark Ages, and I really hope so.

The term Early Access is a cluster fuck. It ranges from playing a completely finished game a week early to asset flipping scams.

If I was a developer I would be afraid to use the terminology because there are so many games that have ruined it's meaning.
Even games that explicitly state what their "early access" is and plaster it all over get tons of hate by people crying the game isn't done and is missing features. People often just expect whatever early access meant in the last game they played and can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds reading a description or warning when they click buy.

I usually avoid early access because I want to have the best experience with it when it's finished. But some games I will get. I really enjoyed playing Satisfacttory for over 100 hours when it first came out in early access. Then I played it again years later after 1.0 release and enjoyed it for 100 more hours. They also charged $10 less during early access.

Also early access for single player games is a lot different than multiplayer. It's generally used in single player games to just help fund the development. But multiplayer games often need it as a way to balance the gampelay, test server load, etc.
I've bought early access and kickstarted games just to support the development for several multiplayer games.

This game blows away any FPS of the past 10 years. EA actually helped the game get more exposure. I guess I need to wait till 2026, It was suppose to be late 2025. Maybe the Astronauts wanted a specific date like they said past Borderlands 4.

Advanced access is the term for getting to play a complete game a few days before it's released. Early access is is buying a game still in development with the supposed benefit of shaping its development.
