i still want enough speed to play online with no hickups also 1 PC and the X box will be down stairs from the router i have a 256/3000 cable connection

even your basic 902.11b has faster transfer rates than your cable modem, so basing your decision on wanting to play games online means jack

the current wireless standard all the cool cats are using is 802.11g, which normally runs at 54mbps, but there is some new thing out that makes it run at 108mbps(i dont know if it is backwards compatable, but im sure it is)
one thing you should factor in is distance and type of house... do you have thick walls? will these all be in the same room? will everything be separated to different ends of the house? if range is a definite issue, then you should wait for 802.11n to be released

as a side note, wireless xbox adaptors are EXPENSIVE
