This is a question for a co-worker. He has his $HOME mapped to a SAMBA share. When I go to this share from my Windows XP workstation in the office, I can see all of the files and folders present in the share.

When he goes to the same network location, he only sees a small subset of the files in the directory. I looked at permissions and they are all set to 777.

Anyone have anything we can try?

I assume you tried pressing F5 to refresh the view?

Also are there any force user, valid users, read list ... statements in the samba config?

yeah, we did both F5 and CTRL+F5. I made sure that "show hidden files" is enabled on his machine.

I don't know about the specifics of the SAMBA conf file. That's handled by corporate IT. I am wondering if this is just a symptom of something more insidious wrong on his machine since it works fine for me and it's not even my $HOME share.

resolved.

unmounted all samba shares and then rebooted Windows.
