Windows XP Pro freezing at installation

My Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 freezes at the "installing devices" or the "installing network" screen with 33 minutes remaining. Wtf is wrong? I can still access the command console(shift + F10) but I don't know bwhat to do.

My specs:

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+
Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe with latest bios
2x1GB Corsair TwinX DDR400
eVGA 7900GT CO Superclock
Maxtor SATA 16MB cache 200GB harddrive

Basically the same rig in my sig, but now with Corsair RAM and a 7900GT CO SC.
 
yeah definately a disc or hdd problem. Anything else shouldnt make the system hang like that.
 
Disk seems fine, it worked before a few weeks ago.

The harddrive should be fine.
 
Its the disc, I have purchased for compaines, site license discs that don't work after opening them literally.

Use a different disc, but install it with your key (still a legal O.S.)
 
I found my old Windows XP Home with SP1, and I'm installing with that right now, so far so good.
