Windows Vista + Sound Driver = Freez and Sound Loop

I've installed the 32bit verson of Windows Vista RC-2 on a laptop with a "Conexant AC-Link Audio" sound card. Windows works perfectly fine until I install the sound driver, after the computer restarts it just freezes at the login screen with the begining startup sound looping

Thankfully I can boot into safe mode and disable the sound card, allowing me to boot into windows normally, but then I have no sound.

Any advice?

I've been googleing like crazy and all I can find is information (and a fix for) this problem and Vista 64bit. I'm using Vista 32bit, so the hacked 64bit driver won't do me any good...
