I've changed my VM workstation to Windows 8 (previously Windows 7). Given the difficulty I've had navigating the new OS, I've pinned a few things now to my task bar so I don't have to go through the start screen again looking for things. Anyway, my workstation is pretty much maxed out on the CPU usage, but I'm getting different readings from different places :

1) Performance Monitor : 92-93%
2) Real Temp : 95%
3) Task Manager : 100%
4) Resource Monitor : 118% ?? (and 40% maximum frequency ??)

Anyone know what/why this is? Possibly just a bug?

That'd be one hell of a bug...what process appears to be sucking up all the CPU cycles, according to Task Manager?

Pretty much all wmware.exe for each virtual machine. Maybe the CPU usage in the resource monitor is calculated like :

frequency / base clock * CPU usage = Final CPU Usage

4.2ghz is about a 23% overclock over a stock 2600K, and if you take about 95% of that as reported by other programs, it's about 117-118%. But the maximum frequency number is still way off.

I guess the only way to find out would be for me to overclock a bit more, but I can't shut down the VMs right now. :(
