For the last couple of days I've been having stability problems with win7 RC.

I never had a single crash during the time I used the public BETA, so I'm not sure I can blame the OS.

Anyway, since early this week several programs have crashed. Particularly utorrent, firefox and WMC.

The lack of detail regarding error messages, Event Viewer, etc., is going to hamper you getting help on this. It will also probably cause at least one member to excoriate you.

OK so you're running uTorrent and don't find that a possible cause of something getting on your system?

Run sfc /scannow with the Windows 7 disk in, it should repair any damaged DLLs.

Its been DECADES since I had a virus on my pc. I'm aware that utorrent could possibly be the source of the problem, so I checked for virus/spyware and the pc is clean.

I still have a HD with the previous public beta. I'll try that, if the problem persists then it might be memory related.

Is this a clean install of the RC or did you do an upgrade? If so, do a clean install.

Are you running all stock Win7 drivers or did you install XP/Vista drivers of your own for any hardware?

Things got worse a few minutes ago. BSDs, freeze. corrupt zips.

As I suspected, it turned out to be a bad memory stick.

its a corsair XMS2 DDR800 rated at 1.9v. Overvolting to 2.1v seems to correct the problem. Well at least it's still under warranty.

I seem to have problems with Windows 7 when I shut down. About 1 out of every 10 times the system freezes during the shutdown process.

i use vista 64bit version. imo i think that people that have problems with vista 64bit will have the same problems with win7 64bit. imo it's not the os, it's the machine (you guys with error messages have to replace your mobo or memory, i solved my problem by buying a new mobo+memory+cpu.)

im also using all the programs the OP talked about in win7 RC 64 bit and have had no problems
