I have a mouse button mapped to ALT + F4 to close the active window. Well, it does close any "average" folder (like "My Computer") but not some more "important" ones (like "Device Manager", "System properties", etc.).

But I can close those "important" ones when pressing ALT+F4 on a keyboard. How can that be?

It has to do with User Rights. The program needs to be run as an administrator, but it puts you in a catch22 -- if you edit the properties and tell it to always run as administrator, it won't load on startup.

The trick is to move the program from your startup to a scheduled task that runs on login. Then you can have it run with administrative access and it should work in all programs.
