    Hello all,

My work laptop (DELL 5520) on W10 (1703 I think) will take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to reboot or shut down when LAN is connected thru any USB-C adapter. This problem is not present on WIFI but WIFI does cause some PGP issue with encrypted drive so I would prefer to find a solution for the first problem (While second issue is manageable by disconnecting drives before powering on and plug when WIFI is connected).

I did try to install the ethernet driver (whatever they're for since it uses the USB-C) with no luck.

Any idea how to find the root cause ? Seems this problem happens on W10 DELL only. I may give IT a call and see if they have a fix for that but going thru the layer of IT levels can be painful and level 1 may break my install so I would prefer to find a fix myself for now.

    Thanks !

That is always my last step. My second to last step is to back everything up and create a restore point.

You may need to ensure that PXE boot support is enabled in UEFI and that your USB-C adapter also supports PXE. Dell has an article on this.

PXE boot is used to install images but doesn't work properly at our office and IT gave up on fixing it. They gave me access to ISO instead (Which anyway is way more convenient since BW is VERY limited here).
You think PXE is used while shutting down / restart ? If so I may try disabling it...

EDIT: Wow a thread I started is top #10 on front page LOL I feel special now and not in a snowflake way :)

Lol well it could be related to how my domain interact with shut down / restart over LAN over USB-C since direct LAN does not have any issue on other controllers and WIFI works fine on my PC.
I may need to try to image it to 1809 (latest ISO avail) but reinstalling everything is currently not possible with the current workload. (I do configure all production laptop on my spare time, it's the worst luck that my install is the only local problematic one lol but I'm the only one with the higher end laptop with no LAN port).

Anyway, at least I got a workaround but I would prefer to use LAN over WIFI so I'll keep digging, google kung fu have been of no help so far, adding LAN to any search pretty much screw my results lol.
