Win7 issue...mounting my old sata hdds

I have 3 old hard drives (SATA) that I have mounted in a Thermaltake SATA dock and connected to my PC via usb connection. For some reason, Win7 refuses to assign any of them a drive letter and marks them as "recovery partitions." Same thing happens when connected directly via SATA to my motherboard. I tried disabling system restore. Any ideas on how I can access these drives to pull files off of them?
