win10 laptop battery report reading ?

I'm one of those idiots that leaves their laptop plugged in all the time, but lately the charge drops out without the plug part of the icon in Win10. Been having this problem for a while, but it eventually comes back if I unplug cord from port on laptop. Lately, I've resorted to cleaning out the port with toothpick and sometimes a little iso and it comes back. I finally generated a battery report today and not sure how to read it; although, in the Battery Capacity History it shows 80,132 mWh full charge capacity for 2.5 years ago and 57,715 now. Logic tells me this means something. Is my battery still good or should I get another one. I'm already on my second power adaptor. If my battery is fine, then it must be the power port, correct? Thank you.

your battery is still good but it is degrading. use a interdental brush and iso to clean out the port better.

well if you do the math its down to about 72%. its your call when to replace it based on your usage. ive bent the inside pin a little to make it put more pressure on the connector but depends on what style it is...

Over time they degrade either way but using them constantly degrades them faster. It's good to use it every now and again. 2.5 years losing a quarter capacity sounds reasonable.

I just fixed an acer that acted like it had a bad battery, it would charge supposedly, batt test report said all was fine, unplug and it died. Had to reconnect the battery and good to go. I don't know if disconnecting it cleaned corrosion or if there was something else triggered by reconnection. Battery report isn't always 100% reliable

ive had "dead" acer chromebooks do that. yank the battery, plug it back in and they come back to life.

Now it's not wanting to charge at all. Maybe it's time to yank the battery and see what's up.
EDIT: actually, I barely get connection back for a few seconds unplugging at port and plugging back in, but then it goes out again.

changed the battery and went from 55% to 29% power left and it's still not charging. Should I run battery test on new battery?

new battery is fine, so it looks like a matter of getting it charged up. It starts charging, then drops out, I wiggle it a little, charges for 10-15 mins, then drops out again, etc. Seriously, it looks like it was the port the whole time ass suspected. Sounds like I may have to bend inside pin or a shop may have to put in a new port if possible. Ideas?

Sounds like the charging port needs to be replaced. Common point of failure on many laptops.

try the pin thing. if the socket feels loose it might need the solder re-flowed.

Yes, I may have to have charging port replaced. In the meantime, I have it working jammed at an angle and working (just can't move laptop...lol). Yes, socket is loose, but that's good thing as that's why I got it to work now. They really need to make these ports more robust; maybe they don't because it would add weight to the laptop.

Can I get it replaced at just any computer shop? Hopefully, they can order it and get it in and then schedule me for one day and I can bring it in.

it totally depends on how its attached. some like lenovo use a pig tail to the socket and its as simple as unplugging the old and pluggin in the new one. if its soldered to the board, the first step is to reflow the contacts pins and the anchors. a decent shop should be able to do it for part cost plus ~1hr labour. if you can get it apart and hold a soldering iron steady, id try diy first...

I looked at it briefly when I was putting the new battery in and I think it's soldered to the board. no way I'm doing that myself; will take it to shop eventually. Thanks to everyone!

Now it decides to blink orange for no reason (at least to me). Made the mistake of running the MSI battery calibration, so I could not use laptop for a while. Any idea why it was blinking orange? It did not seem to be for the reason given online.
