win 7 "play to" features settings? Help me out?

I found this feature. its awesome on my samsung LED tv.

issue i have. is EVERYTHING is playing with black bars all the way around.

Like some dvd's etc have a black bar on top/bottom for full screen, it throws off the wide screen. am I making sense?

I've checked. these vid files don't have them. so its either the pc or the tv putting them there.

the same file plays properly on the tv off a thumb drive. So I assume its the pc. Is there a way to play with settings? I'm thinking, it thinks, that its playing to a full screen?

Some old DVDs were encoded in 4:3 aspect. With the 16:9 image pasted inside that.. if that makes sense.

no one knows why? I plyed an old scool full scrrn divx file. and it played fine. so for some reason my pc is out putting in full screen format to my tv..
 
this is a cool feature that has a lot of potential but never gets used imo
 
Also, you can use this feature in tandem with foobar 2000 and the UPnP addon. It is useful, but it has not been implemented well enough in other devices. Hopefully MS pushes it more, comes out with more devices, etc.
