I was just curious about this, I wasn't gonna go ahead and buy the cpu yet, but since barton mobiles only run at 133fsb I was thinking I could just update my bios and throw one in, and it would work correctly?

am i right, or would this not work at all?

It is basically a 133 rated Barton, but we all know that it can go higher !!

There will be no entry for that cpu in the bios lookup table so it may just recognize it as an "Unknown SPEED AMD Athlon" or similar string, as long as it boots and runs full speed the everything is cool...

Your board may revert the CPU to the safest setting 5x100, you will net to set it up via
- jumpers
- bios entry
- from the desktop with an app that will support FSB and multichange.

There really isn't all that much to it.

I believe the KT3 Ultra has multiplier adjust and FSB adjust in the BIOS. Unfortunately the KT333 chipset only really supports a 266MHz FSB (or around there) stably and has no FSB/AGP lock.

You want as high a multiplier as you can manage with a 133MHz (266) FSB and a mobile chip. Be sure to check the core voltage to verify it's running under 1.65Vcore by default, or it will be very toasty. Multipliers above 12.5 will probably be mapped to low multiplier settings.
