Will Diablo 3 hit the $29.99 mark within the next month?

It's not that I'm some kind of cheapskate tightwad, well a little bit. Who amongst us isn't looking for a deal ALL the time. I'm just asking because I have a backlog of games I'd like to finish and I think a month's time is about when I'll be about done with them. This would be sweet because this game sure seems cool.

I'd say there is pretty close to a 0% chance. Especially with ~6.5 million sales so far at full price.

It won't hit that price for years, might see a special at 40 dollars at some point, but not any time soon it just launched

$29.99 in a month or two is very possible.

It's possible in the sense that the sun could possibly explode tomorrow.

Starcraft 2 is a comparable title release by the same company almost two years ago in July 2010 for $60. Current price on Newegg? $50. Lowest online price according to Google is Amazon at $45. So no, in 30 days, Diablo 3 isn't going to sell at a lower price than what's being charged for another Blizzard game that's almost two years old.

Plus Diablo3 is poised to be more played then SC2. I doubt Blizzard or any retailer will be tempted to lower the price any time soon.

Took almost 5 years for WC3 Battle.net chest to hit $45.

It took 10 years and the announcement of DIablo 3 to drop the Diablo 2 Battle Chest down to $20.... It stayed at $45 for a long time prior.

I was in the same boat. I've been looking since launch for any discount. Finally broke down and bought it. So far I am glad that I did! The game rocks! Just do it...

What is possible is that a retailer like Best Buy, Newegg or Amazon could run a limited time sale at a discounted price just to drive traffic to their store or site. That's a pretty common tactic but it's impossible to predict in advance and it's typically not done with new releases. 30 days is too soon, your horizon has to stretch out a little further into the future before a hot deal offer for Diablo 3 becomes more likely.

If you've got a lot of games to play, there's no harm in waiting to buy Diablo 3. Everyone selling the game at full price right now so you're not missing out on any new release discounts and the price isn't going to up. At worst, it'll be the same price as it is now.

best is to get touchlight 2 because that will be better than diablo 3 for only 20 dollars.

I'll agree with you. Plus, I'm sure by the time I'm ready to buy, Blizzard would have worked out a few bugs and patched it a few times. Oh well *sighs*

There is absolutely no reason for it to be. Thus it will not be.

Most you will see its $5, all we ever saw was $5 for sc2 so far unless I missed the mega $10 off deal somewhere.

Considering they are still getting $20 for Diablo 2, I highly doubt it will be cheap for a very long time to come.

Torchlight 2 will be out far before a D3 price drop and from what I've seen in the Beta streams its shaping up to be a worthy contender for only $20

same odds as hitting blackjack 10 times in a row

I'm going to disagree with you there.

Most casinos use at least a 4 deck shuffle for blackjack to make counting cards harder. That leaves you 16 Aces (assuming a fresh shuffle), making it mathematically possible to hit 10 blackjacks in a row. While terribly low, ((1/13) * (4/13))^10, is still greater than zero and therefore a statistically higher chance than that of Diablo III being half off in the next couple months.

Although, Blizzard is probably not going to put you in a shallow grave in the Nevada desert if you pay $30 for Diablo III. 10 blackjacks in a row... you have it coming.

I think it could very well be as low as $40 but for only 1 day and only at some kind of special Fry's sale, perhaps a BlackFriday thing.

I'm seeing reports that Diablo 3 is breaking records with how many copies it has sold, so i'm thinking it's bloody unlikely the price will go down anytime soon. You might see a holiday sale, then it'll jump back to $59.

If the sheer volume of logins broke the servers on launch day, Blizzard has no reason to drop the price any time soon.

Really OP?

Get a job and play a great game. Or sell some crack rock. If 60 dollars is an issue for you to purchase ANYTHING that wish to invest time into, than you need to rethink your priorities.

If i was your friend, i might buy you and your entire family 6 copies.

You 12?

** edit: Sorry that was so harsh, but if 60$ means anything to you, you need a better job. Drop the gaming addiction, learn a trade, get an education, then loot.

**** oh and the top grossing PC game in 8 years will take a while to hit the "bargain bin".

only want to pay 30 bucks? wait til it hits ios or android.. should be able to get it for 30 bucks on one of those devices :D

I bought it yesterday and paid $50 only because I had a $10 credit on my credit card.
Co-op mode is fun, played an hour or with my brother last night.

I don't think that is gonna happen.
Blizzard rarely drops prices even if the games are selling.
i mean and this one is selling like hot fire..

Not wanting to spend $60 dollars on a game is somehow a skewed priority? It sounds like his priority is "It's a game. I can wait, but I hope I only have to wait a month." Pretty damn good priorities if you ask me.

Also I really like the basic grasp of the English language combined with the "get an education" remark. Top notch good sir.

OP, I'd expect a Christmas sale from at least a few B&M retailers, but the MSRP and Blizzard's digital price will remain at $59.99 for quite a while. $30 may be a bit low, but I bet there'll be plenty of $45 or so sales throughout the year.

SC2 once went at $30 for digital downloads during a Blizzard promo last year.

I think priorities depend on who you talk to :-p , some people think it's ludicrous to drop $50K on a car. I think it's fine. There's a lot of people on here who think $60 for a piece of software that even lasts a few hours is worthwhile.

P.S. Not trying to attack you.

the Warcraft Battle Chest was the same price for YEARS!!!!! Diablo 3 won't go down in price. They will have 24 hour sales on some random sites every once in a while but I'd say that's about all we'll see for quite some time.

Well if 2012 truly is the end of the world and we figure it out beforehand, maybe a month before it all ends Blizz will discount it. Maybe.
