Will a 3850 benefit me with this system?

First of all, I have an AGP system (I know, shame on me :( ). Besides that I have an A64 FX 53, 2Gb of Corsair XMS, and an HIS X1950 Pro. Everything is at stock. I generally game at 1280 x 800 on my Sony FW900 and I'm happy with playing at that resolution. I'd like to know whether I would see any improvement from replacing my X1950 PRO with a 3850 AGP? I read an article on Tom's Hardware about continuing to game on A64 single core machines but it didn't really answer my question to my satisfaction. I know I should at least go dual core but if I can get something out of the 3850, I'll pick one up anyways.

Sure, with the 3850 you'll be able to turn on more of the eye-candy. Overclocking that FX53 will give you a nice boost as well, not just to games but any application.

I was in your boat for a long time with a Socket 939 AGP system.

A HD 3850 from a x1950 Pro would really revive it.

The 3850 is a world better than the 1950. My Junior system is still an AXP. I took it from a 7600GT to the 3850agp and its night and day. At 1280, the older single core cpus deficiency is not as pronounced. The 3850 would let you play anything including Crysis, maybe not maxed to the gills but at 1280 medium details for sure, maybe some high mixed in. The 1280 is your friend there. Its a great way to breathe some life into an old agp system

i can run crysis on all mediums with ok fps on my server at 1280x1024(or is it low lol) which is an X700, so a 3850 should do a whole lot better (been meaning to buy one myself...)

Thanks for the replies :) Now I just need to figure out which 3850 AGP to get. I see the Sapphire has a good following. What about the others?
