Sorry about the new thread, but I haven't seen any Wii restock posts since the "Snag" thread, other than the Nintendo World one. :p

Does anyone already have a battle plan for Sunday? Or Saturday night if it's come to that!!?
Any stores have a good rep for camping at that are sure to have Wii on Sunday?

Of most of the shops near me, this is what they had to say, more or less:

EB - "CC and BB get theirs on the 17th... For us they come at random."
Best Buy - "We don't know... best thing you can do is check the Sunday ads."
Circuit City - "We're not sure, we can give you a better answer on Saturday"
Target - "Expecting shipments on Sunday, people will probably be camping out..."
TRU - "We randomly get them any given day; shipments come around 10-11 AM so you're best off calling during the day."
Wal-mart 1 - "Don't know, the department manager may know but you'll have to call before 4 PM."
Wal-mart 2 - "Don't know... We don't know."

Do stores earnestly not know what they're buying or are they blatantly pleading ignorance? Also, do all chain stores get their Wiis at the same time and go on sale at the same time?

I'm having a hard time just finding a store to camp if it comes to that.

They definitely know. Just call them saying you're Bob from store 71 and you have a rep on the other line wondering about the shipments in the area. ;D

I'll be camping out in front of Best Buy probably around 4am. I'll check the ad online before I go (just to make absolutely sure they're selling it), and 4 hours beforehand should (hopefully) be plenty of time.

I think the stores say that they don't know just to keep the line from getting too big.

I guess I'll start checking around here now. I finally found some component cables...I just need a system now!
I was going to have my fiancė check around later in the week, but it sounds like they're more rare than I thought.
I don't like the camping out or loitering for hours plans, but it's sounding like I might need to.

Yeah...
My fiancė will be home during the day this week so I was going to call around and have her grab it if anyone got one :)

I think calling is the wrong way to go. Showing up when the shipment is in is the best bet. I talked to one guy who said when people call they say they are out, even if they call just as a shipment comes. This stops people from calling and driving to the store and by the time they get there they are all gone, and they get irate that they drove for nothing.

Camping out for the daily shipment I think is the only way. At least before Christmas. I was all set to have Santa write an IOU to my five year old. But after standing in line many many many many many times(police academy) I was able to get one at walmart after only 3 hours in line(5 am).

Good luck!

they're playing dumb with you.. i've caught them lying tons of times..

the best thing to do.. is periodically check who's camping out where say.. starting at 5PM on the 16th.. if people are camping.. that means it got leaked that they will be selling on the17th.. just work off of that... try wiichat.com a lot of "inside" people post there

what i mean by inside peopel.. is peopel that work at CC, BB, traget.. etc.. etc..

Most stores don't know. My sister runs a Target (head of store, not a dept.) and she said that she knew they would have some before Sunday because that's when the ad is released advertising their availability. Beyond that, she had no idea when they would arrive or how many she would receive. She has to hold them until Sunday morning to sell.

The corporate shipping centers are probably the only places that know allocation numbers and ship dates.

I've gotten three through tips from an old friend that works at Wal-Mart.

They definately know when they're supposed to be getting more.

i have a friend who works at eb and he told me that they definitely have them, but are waiting till sunday for release. he said that's when the ads advertises it, so they sell it then.

The people you call and talk to most likely really dont know. Management probably doesnt know unless they know who above them to call. They only will know if they have been told, or their systems have updated to show them on the way, or they are there and they are sitting on them.

I know CC has Wii's on the way in the DFW area. They will probably show up before sunday, and they will probably be sold before sunday. Unit count is under 10 per store as well, so if they sit on them be ready for an early camp out. If they dont sit on them (which is the most likely outcome) be there when they open from now until sunday. Also keep in mind the come through UPS drop shipments, which times vary per store. Some come in the afternoon hours, some come in the morning.

Good luck.

I work at Target in the electronics department mostly (I'm actually applying for the position of electronic specialist, since ours will be leaving for the summer, and I'd love to have that spot for the summer). Anyways, I can say that we honestly don't know when we get them in. Targets restock system works two ways:

First, we follow our adds. Our adds come out every saturday/sunday and are effective that sunday through the next saturday. If the add has a Wii in it, every store is required to have atleast one Wii on shelves. Chances are they've had them for one or two days, but due to company policy we can't put them out till they're in the Add.

Second, is the pretty much random computer system. Our restocks work through a tracking system. It checks what sold for the day, relays that to some central office and then they plan out what we get. So basically, we could get them tomorrow, in a week or in a year, we really just don't know unless it's in the add, then we'll have atleast one available at the start of the sale.

(p.s. the add for the 17th will have a Wii in it, so use above info for a hint, lol)

I also noticed on Compusa's website, they show the Wii coming soon every morning and later it switches to sold out. So the must put up a few every day. Just gotta be quick I guess.

local Best Buy = "Not anytime soon"
local CompUSA= " *laugh* uh, probably next year" (not funny you ass)

online search = NOTHING anywhere and I'm not paying more than retail for the damn thing

When I worked at a KMart a while back (no laughing) we honestly didn't know when we were getting stuff. It came from a warehouse, and we couldn't just order more at will. Best Buy and those stores are probably better at knowing where their stuff comes from and can track it more easily.

i know for a fact that BB, CC and Staples all know exactly what items will be on the next 2 delivery trucks, meaning they know what's coming in for the next two weeks. if you work at the store you notice it will usually take 1 - 2 weeks to fill empty shelves, as the first truck may have some, depending on how low the stock number is.

the fact is, they know (the managers), to avoid chaos and confusion, many of them find it easier just to say they have no idea. had a manager's password for checking incoming shipments, as i would usually let ppl know what was coming and when it could be expected via the as400, because i'd rather have someone who really wants it, get it, than some joe blow who will ebay the thing a hour later

It's time to face reality: if you want a Wii for sure at this point, it's going to have to be at real market value - aka, higher than retail.

Anyone has any ideas if BestBuys / Wal-Mart in **Canada** will be getting any on the 17th?

Thanks :)

Something else to think about (this really pisses me off also) is workers at store buying them.
Now I don't know different store policy on the issue (someone can clarify this) but on another forum some guy said his wife snagged a Wii at a Walmart, the only reason she got it was that she just happened to walk by electronics when a worker was placing TWO Wiis under the counter behind the register, she asked if they were sold out and the worker said yes I am buying the last two (probably the only two they got in the shipment) but the lady argued until the worker sold one of them to her. That is total BS and I wonder how often that works, 1 Wii ok but two!, More than likely the worker was saving them for a friend b/c I am sure retailers have rules about workers buying high demand items. Also I am sure anyone that knows when these items come in have plenty of friends/family who want one and they sure as hell aren't going to tell some random customer when b/c they are pulling favors to family/friends. I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing but it sucks if you don't know someone who works at a retail store.

What time does Target open on Sunday? I'm not a big fan of waking up early :p

I was actually a friend that was supposed to be on the receiving end of such a hook-up but the same thing happened to the associate who was providing for me. I don't think there's anything wrong with it honestly. Many people are using so called dirty tactics to get what they want for the holiday's and that doesn't only apply to the Wii. It would then be equally as dirty for people to:

1. Socially engineer stores by identifying themselves as employees to one store in order to gain info for the inventory/sale date status of another.

2. Use a privileged/managerial password to provide inventory/sales date status to some, while lying to others.

3. Arrange to buy multiple desirables at different locations (via associates) and then sell them for profit.

These are other things that have been done to get a Wii and I got a couple from threads on this board. All I'm saying is, let's not get into the morality of shopping for crying out loud. Who cares??????? Swim with sharks long enough and all is fair in love and war and shopping for the holidays.

I guess I'll try to get a Wii for my brother this Sunday. Hopefully I will be able to find one, he really wants a Wii.

I GOT A WII! Wow, I guess I won't be camping in front of Best Buy on Sunday. I was at the mall doing some Christmas shopping, and on a whim decided to stop in at EBgames. It was about 12:30, and lo and behold, a man comes in with three big cardboard boxes. He tells the manager to "Save 25 for Sunday, the rest you can sell today." He opens the box and reveals (what else?) a bunch of Wii's. I was giddy, to say the least, and I snatched one up.

The moral of this story: It's still possible (although I got EXTREMELY lucky) to get one before Sunday

Wow, that is pretty lucky... nice. Although, after getting that lucky, I'd be worried that I'd be struck by a meteor while walking throught he parking lot.
