Why there are no travel DVI cables?

Because people used "travel" VGA to connect to projectors and TVs when doing presentations on the road. It was quick, easy and ubiquitous. DVI was never that common for that sort of thing.

Then HDMI because the new de-facto universal standard for that application, and there's plenty of "travel" versions of HDMI.

So the short answer is, there's almost no market for it.

I use the really thin monoprice hdmi cables and adapters for all my dvi needs.
