Why need more vcore when the ram is faster?

My 3770k at 4.5 pairs with 1866mhz ram and it requires 1.28v to be stable. When I use the 2400mhz ram kit, I have to increase the vcore to 1.3 coz it cant boot to window with 1.28v. Why?

Memory controller is on the CPU. 2400mhz is quite an extreme memory overclock for an Ivy/DDR3. Therefore need for more voltage.

Yep same thing with my clocked 6700K and 3000MHz specced ram overclocked.
Both at highest voltage I want to use.

CPU at 4.7GHz the max I can run my ram is 3600MHz.
At 4.6GHz I can overclock the ram higher to 3733MHz with the same voltages.

I could probably pump more volts into the CPU to get 4.7GHz / 3733MHz but more is out of my safe zone.

I bought some 2400 and messed with it for about an hour and a half trying to get it to run.. I got it but my cpu did not like it, so I sold it for what I paid. With my cpu it doesn’t mind 2133 but at 2200 it starts getting cranky.

The motherboard quality matters quite a lot to get max speed.
I tried 2 motherboards before the one I now use, both mid/low end Z170 and neither board would let my 3000MHz ram run faster than 2500MHz.
It wasnt until I bought a mid/high end board it finally ran at 3000MHz and then overclocked like a beast.
