Who here is keeping their 3 series and skipping 4 series nV cards?

#1 reason for me is because of number of slots required. The FE requires 4 slots (3-slot card, and one slot to allow fans to breathe). Most other cards require 5 slots (3.5 or 4-slot card, and one slot to allow fans to breathe). I simply cannot sacrifice that many slots. Even the FE would require me to remove an Intel dual-port network card that I'm using, but I've been testing USB-based replacements. Swapping a rock-solid Intel network card for two ghetto USB adapters is still far from ideal, but it's the only card that I have the option of removing while still being able to get somewhat equivalent functionality via other means. Going to a 5-slot card would require that I also either remove my Sound Card or the small extra videocard that I use to power my 5th and 6th monitors. I'm not willing to sacrifice either of those. I think that there are a couple other 3-slot cards. I believe Zotac makes one. But none of the good AIB companies have one that I know of. I also kind of like the look of the FE. Also, wasn't there something about being able to bump the FE up to 600w while many of the AIB cards can't go above 450?
I was exactly in your position I wanted to have my add in sound blaster cards I can't stand on board audio. So I went custom loop with a single slot 3080Ti Hydrocopper (before that aorus 2080Tiwater force single slot, before that Aorus 1080Tiwaterforce single slot) because they are literally single slot and you can use the second slot even right underneath it no worries. I didn't care about the wattage I'm ok with what a good high end Ti model can do but yeah the slots are precious and would be unhappy without my add in cards so I can fully understand your concern. Consider liquid looping your rig you seem like you are more than enthusiast enough for it lol.

Wat.

Bro, this would be like using Mac OS System 7 still in 2003 and complaining that stuff isn't working on it. Just to put that into perspective.

I'm still trying to process that comment you are commenting on.
Why the FE? With that hideous connector sticking out the side like a sore thumb bad position bad angle. For that reason alone the FE is out of the question for me (not in the market for 4000 series n e way just saying) why not go for a MSI gaming or suprim or Asus etc?

Best boards most likely, best cooler, best looking card. I'm not in the market either having just bought a 3090 FTW3, I wish I had an FE. I wouldn't consider any 40 series that wasn't an FE, and the fact that they are more expensive is insane to me. But, it's interesting to hear your perspective because I was actually wondering why in gods name anyone would pay hundreds more for a non FE 4090 when in my mind, it's the only option. Strictly for looks, cooling and performance. 3rd party cards are rocking massive coolers that aren't even necessary with the 40 series. In 2 years, I will probably get one. I just thought people were paying top dollar for whatever just because its in stock.

I don't think I've ever seen an actual picture of him, but that's how I'm going to envision what FrgMstr looks like for now on.
That's me, with the stupid hat.

You’re on windows 7 and an i5 2320. A GPU upgrade should be the least of your priorities. You don’t even have proper DX12 support

Vulcan is better than DX12 anyways. And fortunately no games that interest me are DX12-only. I think most of the good developers don't even make games where DX12 is required.

And you’re still on a low end sandy bridge i5. Not even a 2500k and only at 3ghz. it’s like you repurposed an old Dell Optiplex for a gaming PC. you'd be CPU bound even with a 1080Ti. But you do you.

I want to get a 4090 FE so that I can move my 3080 to my wife’s desktop that has a 1080. Sadly Nvidia is not making very many of them.

I paid too much for this 3090 back in Feb so they might as well throw this bitch in my coffin when I die.

lol I'll probably give it to my kid when it's time to upgrade.
I feel the same way. Milk the 3000 series card for all it's got. Unless you can get good money back from resale it's more worth either milking it or slapping it into a secondary rig if not yours/wife's/kids etc.

Best looking card? C'mon now? Seriously? No RGB, wire coming out the middle, minimalistic plain black and silver basic aesthetic design is the best looking card? This might be a stretch. If you don't like RGB you can turn off the RGB on the RGB cards through software I'm sure. Their performance is nice though can't argue that. But when my ek quantum 2 RGB cpu water block is glowing along with the trident z5 RGB glow and the ek reservoir glowing in RGB synchronized how would the FE card make any sense style wise if it's the best looking card. In my opinion It's the worst looking card lol unless you don't have any lighting in your case or a case with no window or view. Not arguing just hard to believe anyone would buy it for the look because the performance is too notch from the benchmarks I've seen It's just I feel It's the odd part out compared to all the other components in most popular builds these days you know what I mean.

Why on earth would you buy any high end card to pair with an 11 year old 4 core/ 4 thread cpu much less an expensive 4090 or 4080?

Because at the time I didn't think Nvidia would be foolish enough to drop Win7 support on the 4000 series.
Clearly they are, so my choices going forward are limited to either the RTX 3000 or RX 7000 series. Which is okay really. The games I play don't need anything faster than that.

Are you really just missing the point? You cant be that unaware that your cpu is way to old and slow to be paired with any halfway decent gpu and sticking it with a top end card is just beyond ridiculous.

almost bought a 4090, even got a 1600w psu for it, but thinking about selling the psu at a loss and just gaming 1080p 60 fps with my 7970 and 2600k. I can still enjoy all the latest games graphic fidelity albeit at lower fps. i figure i wont get that much more out of higher res and fps, can always downgrade gfx for 144fps gaming.

will see what cyber monday deals there are. if nothing i have a brand new superflower 1600w ill be putting on for sale lol.

Staying with my 3090. I only game at 4K 60fps, so the power of a 4090 would be useless to me. The next upgrade I need is a monitor.

Not me. Got rid of my EVGA cards as support will very likely diminish over time.

Have a 4090 STRIX (7950X), 4080 STRIX (5800X3D), and a 4090 Founders Edition (5800X3D).

NVIDIA brought it this gen in terms of performance. That’s all that I care about.

I plan on buying the 4070ti hoping it's a lighter card Heatsink wise and cooler temps lower price.
Hoping I can find one in stock those Bots are buying every last 4080 card except for the ones on the MFG. website I want a 4080 but don't want a Heavy card with Coil Whine. Otherwise I'm going to give up PC gaming and just PS5 the rest of the way.

What I'm hoping for is Intel if Intel can produce new card every year or so that would be great.

144hz displays are inexpensive nowadays and would make a massive difference contrary to what people think being stuck at 60hz. Smoothness is quite the luxury and once you experience you never want to go back to slower.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. The problem is there still isn't the "perfect" 32 inch 4K, 144Hz HDR display out there with enough local dimming zones to suit my desires.

OLED still worries me for burn-in, since I do a lot of desktop usage on my PC, not just gaming. I don't mind spending big, but I want it to have everything.

I was in the same exact position as you are in until I bought the 50" QN90B 144hz HDR VRR display after trying the LG C2 for a week and returning it very disappointed & unsatisfied. There are even reports of the new QDOLED S95B burning in as little as 3 months and the display is ruined so yeah, I agree be cautious about all the haphazard "recommendations" you see thrown around bout oled technology it has its pros, and cons. You only see a fraction of the people that are not embarrassed enough to show the burn online. The thing is waiting for the perfect display may never happen you know what I mean lol. Don't get too hung about the numbers and specs etc. This QN90B for example is beautiful, & brings joy to the user experience. After using the 50" QN90B I would never desire going back to the smaller 32" I had previously. I would give it some consideration; the immersion is incredible along with the 144hz/HDR/VRR combined in tandem all working together in perfect harmony. I'll be using this beast for the next decade; I'm not kidding lol! If you want smaller, I think the NEOG8 series could be an option for you but definitely too small for me after having a more cinematic sized display. There is just no way to go back to something that feels/looks tiny in comparison (i tried my old 32 again for comparison and no go no way no how lol). Give a monitor a try, just make sure you are aware of the return policy.

Is this thing on your desk with a mouse and keyboard? How far do you sit from the display? You have to sit a little bit further back then normal desktop use right?

Yes the 50" QN90B mini led display sits on top of my desk with a 10' ft zeskit high bandwidth HDMi 2.1 cable then draped around it a 5.1 surround sound Z5500 digital Dolby/DTS audio system with the 10" sub under the desk with a gaming keyboard and gaming mouse both wired with USB extension cables. Yes it is a tad bit further away in comparison to where I had a 32", about 10" further. The windows scaling is at between %150-%175. My eyesight isn't perfect but I can pretty easily get away with %150 scaling. If I wanna learn back basically recliner style then %175 would be easier to see. So yeah the distance is compensated by the windows scaling perfectly, no problem anytime. The huge benefit is for enjoying media (Games/movies/YouTube) or having multiple windows open for any type of work because you now have great width and good height also vs only width on ultra wide or super ultra wide. This is where the 50" HDR 144hz VRR display comes into It's own. It's an amazing all-rounder. Immersion is on a much higher level. It's like comparing the original 3 ¹/²” screen Iphone to the new 6.7" screen Iphone. Which one is better or more enjoyable for media or work or anything really? The new bigger one right? To a certain extent, there is too big also. I tried the 55" and immediately returned it. It was interesting how just 5” more inches was actually too big. 50" is the maximum size I would recommend as far as maxing out immersion while still being comfortable for daily use. It's really a joy to have this thing. Makes me happy every time I fire it up. Big beautiful colors and HDR impact with fast speed. Strongly recommend for anyone to try it, you may fall in love with it lol.

Wait cancel the 43! Get the 50! The 43 is not 144hz and uses a different panel . It has a light bleed and pixel interfere issue! I wish you waited to ask me! Quick cancel that order and get the 50 instead!!!

Kinda wish I snagged one of EVGA's 3090Ti models when they were on sale for about $1000, but I'm good with my 3080. Next big purchase will be a monitor. My Samsung 4K TV is fine for work, but I'd like a better gaming experience than it provides.

Personally regret settling my 3080 for $500 and buying the 4090 but the performance boost is massive and now I am stuck with/happy with it.

The latest firmware fixes the 120hertz vrr bad text issue. Is that what your talking about? I think every panel has light bleed..some of it..no?

I pm'd you the details. There have been a few long threads on this forum you can search up and read about the 43 samsung and the 43 aorus fv43u having pixel deformity issues in the entire top half of the displays. User "senn" on this forum was one of the members that discovered it first, it was then confirmed that all 43s use the same panel revealing the 43 samsungs also.
