Which of these two cards? (128 6800 v 256 9800)

The 6800 is much the quicker card, even with only 128Mb memory. I suppose there's a slight chance that some games running 1600x1200 4xaa and 8xaf might equalize things because of the extra memory on the 9800Pro, but I doubt it. Certainly neither card would be playable at such settings anyway.
 
well... really.

if you want a card that is MUCH MUCH more powerful go w/ the 6800.

i really see no reason to go w/ the 9800 w/ 256 memory.

perhaps it will be nice for AA and stuff but i think the raw power of the 6800 will more than over compenstate for its lower ram
 
the 6800 should be faster most of the time, the 9800 is slower even though it's got 256mb ram.

In most all tests, the lowend 6800 beats out even a 9800 XT. Personally if I was looking at that much video card, I'd go up alittle to the Asus 6800 V9999 GT w/ 128 meg of ram. After seeing it on here in the 1500 system, I had my purchasing department pick it up into our inventory.

I just have to say, we ended up buying two custom built computers from Monarch (we went with the XFX GeForce 6800GT 256DDR3 cards in the end) and we have just been thrilled with them, I now recommend Monarch Computers whenever I see anyone asking about buying from an online configurator.

Dave F. was wonderful in personally overseeing our systems, so tell him I am repaying his kindness by spreading the word ;)
