I need a 24" badly (wow, that sounds almost pornographic, don't it?)

Here are the models available to me in my immediate surroundings, in reputable stores that I would trust to do right if something's wrong with the hardware :

Prices are CND.

BenQ FP241W ($829.15)
BenQ FP241VW ($929.99)
Dell Ultrasharp 2407FPW ($829.99)
Samsung 244T ($945.00)
Acer AL2416WD ($655.00)

I was looking for a BenQ FP241WZ, but no stores in the Montreal (Can) area seem to be stocking it.

Recommendations?

It might be a good idea to wait for a month or two. The Samsung 245T and Dell 2407-HC will both probably be released soon.

I also vote for waiting alittle longer, apple is suppose to be releasing their new monitor line up soon

The Dell's price should be in the $700 CDN range at the highest. Call them and inquire if they can knock it down to that price. ;)

What are you using it for ? It looks like on that list the Benq would be the way to go (wz).

Why is the Dell priced so high? Its only 569 online ,can't you order online?

Sorry I didnt see the "CDN", but still.

Funny, people told me the exact same thing 1 full year ago.

Here I am, one year later, and people are still telling me I'd be better off "waiting another month", because something new, untested and unreviewed will be hitting the shelves. ;)

I specifically mentioned that the WZ was not an option in this list. It's the W. Just W. ;)

Does it STILL win over the others (like the 2407)?

Have you considered the LG, which has the same panel as the BenQ but is cheaper?

Futureshop has the LG at $750, and NCIX usually has a weekly sale on it for $720.

Comparing the LG and the Dell, I prefer the Dell by a slight margin, especially the design of the case. The LG has HDMI, though, which is sweet for HD boxes, the PS3, and the 360 Elite.

Also, the LG, though brand new, has the fewest bugs. ;)

Another vote for the LG 245/246WP-BN if you can get your hands on one.

i am starting to think this might be just rumours. i have heard nothing certain yet about thier release. and i am getting tired to waiting for it's release (2407-hc)

Dell already has the manual online for the 2407-HC..

link?

EDIT: i just searched heaps. looks like dell has withdrawn the manual. seems there might be suggestion that they will play the waiting game until current stock is depleted, with a sale price of AUD$999 (with mouse and headset) i doubt depletion will occur soon.

Well if I were given no choice but to choose from that list ,I would consider the one with the best return policy first ( 30 days ,no questions asked, or whatever )seeing your in Canada, Im sure the policys are different.
