I have a 2008 black Macbook currently running Ubuntu. It has a Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz and 2gb of ram. I'd like to install Windows 7, and from what I've read bootcamp is the easiest way to accomplish that.

I do not have a Mac OS disc and I'm not sure which version to look for. Which Mac OS would be best suited for this hardware?

Lion (OS 10.7) is pretty ram hungry, and always felt half baked. For the hardware in question I think the OP would be better off installing Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.8)

Thanks for the responses, I'll look for a Snow Leopard disc 10.6.8.

Apparently I can't use a Mac Mini or iMac install DVD to load Mac OS onto a Macbook? It just tells me it can not install the OS, but does not state a reason why.

You can't use the recovery DVD from a different model.

The driver set on the disc is intended for that specific model.
