Which is better, NextCloud or OwnCloud?

I had NextCloud installed but never could get it to default to https: for this and other reasons I have nuked the whole mess from orbit and I'm about to start over. Base OS will be Ubuntu-MATE running in a VM inside of Windows Server 2012-R2. Getting NextCloud working was about as painful as battery acid on a sunburn. I'd like to take an easier route this time around but if necessary I'll slog through it again. So is there a reason to choose one over the other?

TIA

You'll find them to be essentially the same. (unless Owncloud has changed drastically in a recent release that I missed) Nextcloud forked from Owncloud and took a lot of the core developers with it, so Nextcloud should be the stronger project to hitch your wagon to. IMO

Thanks. i just finished reading a thread that said essentially the same thing. I'll stick with NextCloud.

We are currently on owncloud, changing would be a bitch. I hope we don't have to anytime soon.
