Which end for an SATA HD power is female and which end is male?

I'm actually have a little trouble being able to tell and am slightly confused. Can someone show me pictures?

The cable end is the female part and the connector on the HDD is the male end.

ok are you SURE? do you have a link? Because someone else just told me the opposite and that the cable end is traditionally the male end.

well it's the connector in the middle of the plug that determines the gender...

Your source is incorrect, and treadstone and aphasia are correct: you take the female plug and plug it into the male connector on the hard drive.

I once went to a hardware store to buy an aerator for a faucet. The clerk asked me if I needed a male one or a female one. I replied that I didn't really understand plumbing's technical details. After they shared a good laugh, it finally dawned on me.

The Centronics 50 they used in older SCSI system is confusing in this same way
