TL;DR 3000MT/s CL15, 3200MT/s CL16, or 3600MT/s CL18 ? Price is nearly identical at MC.

I'm thinking of gifting a friend a 2200G build, which seems like a reason to upgrade my mobo + RAM and give them my current board and memory. I'm probably going to go with a B450M Pro 4 to give myself a second full-length PCIe slot and stay with my 1600 for now and upgrade to a 3600 later.

I want RGB memory, and I want it to be Corsair since I already have iCue installed for my AIOs. Going to get 2x8GB for now with the option of adding another 2x8GB someday.

Vengeance pro rgb 3200 c14 or 16 is what i would go with if they have it. They have the best looking rgb. 3200 c14 is b die and clocks very well. I cant say that it will make that big a difference vs the vengeance pro rgb 3200 c16 tho.

it's just the 3200 cl16 at MC.

am I going to run into issues with 3200mt/s memory with Zen 1 though? After doing some research I'm a little nervous to go over 3000 rated :-/ a lot of folks have reports of trouble with 3200 on Zen 1 and B450

You may not be able to run 3200 on that mb/cpu combo so maybe the ddr4 3000 would be a better option. If the price is close enough tho going with the 3200 would give you some headroom. You could also downclock it if needed.

the Zen 1 memory compatibility thing is making my head hurt the more I research. I'm going to upgrade to Zen 2 first, and get the memory later when I'm ready to go to 32GB (prices on low-latency 3600MT will hopefully be less then)

thanks for taking the time to give feedback, hititnquitit!
