Which card for 50% more performance than a 980Ti?

I have just started playing The Division 2 which is more demanding than anything I have played in a while. At 2560x1440 with all of the settings maxed I am seeing around 40 FPS. I would like something that would give me an increase of 50%, or a bit more.

Suggestions?

What other components do you have? An RTX card might be overkill depending on your CPU situation.

2080ti is big bucks.. 1080ti will put a smile on your face with the 11GB ram.. same as 2080ti.

And I bet that would make all the difference at 1440.

When you compare to used 2080 it's 50$

Is ray tracing worth $50? Does 2080 have petter preformance per watt?

No idea.. but my Evga 1080ti ftw3 elite "white" that's the rare 12ghz memory speed model overclocks to 2190 and will run well over 13ghz mem speed would eat that 2080. Hehe

Ek water block for it as well.. prob around 2 years left on the warranty from evga.

Oh and also known to be more reliable then the 2080 series.

Get a used brand with known warranty transfer.. like evga.. not sure on other brands.

Also evga wont void your warranty if you remove the heatsink to water cool or change the paste.

Evga is I think the best of the best when it comes to customer service and warranty issues.

2190 core, for real? Like suicide run?

1080ti will do everything you want and more. Go with that, perfect card for the money @ 1440p

Get the most horsepower you can afford.

A 2080TI should stay relevant the longest.

I was very sceptical about RTX and DLSS but in my case at least DLSS in Anthem made it very enjoyable in 4K with a 2070.
I don't know how that will evolve in future games (If at all). But I'm not writing it off as a gimmick anymore and I pretty much did before.

I will build a new workstation in the fall and the 2080/2080TI are my most likely choices for now.
The 2070 will stay in the old one that is not worth upgrading any further.

I bought a used 1080 Ti for $700 CAD. I think it was a mining card but I've been using and abusing it and it works fine.

Isn't 83/44 = 89% faster?
Yes basic math fail on his part. The jump from a 980 ti to 1080 ti is massive. And with a 6700k the OP will be cpu limited in most games at 1440p with a 1080 ti so a 2080 ti would be a laughable waste of money at 1200 bucks. Of course with DSR he could just run a higher res to get the best use out a 2080ti. IMO though it is silly to get a $1200 gpu unless you have more than 4 cores/ 8 threads.

If your 6700K is overclocked it will do just fine with a 1080 Ti or 2080 Ti. I have a 6600K @ 4.6 GHz with a 2080 Ti and for example Shadow of the Tomb Raider says I'm still something like 90% GPU bound at 1440p. While the CPU will leave some performance on the table, overall the framerates are so high that you just don't need to care when it's 100+ fps anyway. No reason to upgrade until Zen 2 is out and benchmarked.

I second the 1080ti is not far off twice the performance of the 980ti, this is the upgrade I did and my 1080ti only just breaks 2GHz.
Its easily 50% faster and then some.

You are out of your mind if you're thinking a 6700k can miantain 100 FPS in all modern games. There are games where it would not even maintain 60fps in. My overclocked 4770k can even drop into the 40s in some parts of games do the CPU limitations. And if you paid attention to any of the 2080 TI reviews they talked about how even an 8700k would be a limitation for the power of a 2080 TI at just 1440p. But yes of course I would wait until Zen 2 is out before upgrading as its only a few months away.
