Which 670 is the card to buy?

The shorter PCB is kind of a novelty and I like the idea of the Galaxy being just six inches long - but how do you even know what's what? There are four Galaxy's and I can't even find which part number is what yet. Most of the sites that list the 670's so far don't even have pictures. It's a catch 22 cause if you wait for feedback - I'll miss the launch and they'll all be sold out. If I order now I'm gambling on vendor, oc ability, and fan noise.

We need some comparison reviews quick! :p

I'm holding out for a dual fan, 680 PCB board.. Probably either MSI, Gigabyte or Asus....

I'm afraid to buy anything buy EVGA for some reason. Is Asus as good of a company as EVGA? I was also looking at Gigabyte, but not having the step up feature that EVGA offers is a little bit of a downer. Probably just stick with EVGA.

Wow.. That card looks like a beast.. I may have to hold out for the Asus..
I sold both my 6870's in anticipation of a single card solution, right now main rig is sitting idle with no video card!!!

heh, I have a GT 520, talk about disrespecting my computer...

I actually just purchased this one
GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GeForce GTX 670

It overclocks VERY well, and doens't have the cheapo looking reference cooler. Still runs cooler and quieter than reference at idle and cooler and a hair louder than reference at load.

Here is the review that tripped me this way!
http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-670-Reviews-EVGA-and-Gigabyte/?page=12

Overclocked to 1.293ghz core and uses reference 680 PCB.

Best looking in my opinion, good overclocks in my opinion, one of the cheaper models to boot = win

It was $409 at TigerDirect. Paid $10 extra for overnight shipping with my inner circle account to make sure I have it for the Diablo 3 party on May 15th with my brother and a couple friends.

gez I'm nerdy...

Do you have a link? I can't find it on Tiger.

Here's all the cards tiger sells on a splash page they put up today.

The gigabyte has a 6 pin and 8 pin. Should help with oc'ing. I believe the asus only has two 6 pins unless someone can find out otherwise.

Gigabyte's cooler is louder & not as good thermally, per the reviews I'm seeing. Still a great card however.

I LOL at this:
List Price:
$999.99
Instant Savings:
- $590.00 (59%)
Seriously I'm really tempted to snag it but I think I'll hold a little longer for the Asus since I have better experience with them. OP picked a great one though, it looks to me it's one of the best value card on there.

I'm not sure the 8 pin will actually help with anything due to the low power draw. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

I see you lurking the TPU review thread :p
Come on AMAZON.

Thermally I've only seen this one review against the TPU review:
"The reference card with stock cooler would peak in the low 70'C range, but the Gigabyte card would peak at only63'C - to 64'C under load and its fans would runat only 36%."
http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-670-Reviews-EVGA-and-Gigabyte/?page=13

TPU DCU II was 74C, and I'm guessing similar fan speed. Either card should be fantastic.

Are you guys paying tax when ordering from Tiger Direct?

No tax for me in Missouri at tigerdirect, nor at newegg, nor at amazon. Pick the company that doesn't charge you tax to save $30 or $40 bucks. They have to charge tax if they have an "office" in your state.

Hmmmm, interesting info. I've owned other Gigabyte cards with the same cooler, so if it only is peaking at 36% that's really quiet still. EDIT: I'll probably just go for whichever Amazon stocks first, with an edge to the Gigabyte if it shows simultaneously (Asus warranty = not so sure).

Yep, lurking and hoping for availability info :D.

I haven't heard as many bad things on theirs as I have the Asus ones... and Asus gave me a huge hassle taking over a month and a half to get a motherboard back to me on an RMA.

Looking at the Guru 3D review of the GTX 680 Asus DirectCU and Gigabyte Windforce it seems like the Gigabyte is slightly cooler and has the same noise level. Which is surprising since the Asus is a triple slot card.

The Asus 670 TOP is actually a dual-slot cooler, so it's a different design, per the TPU review.

Yep... I have amazon prime too, really want the Gigabyte OC to come in-stock there about now.

Which makes me thinking it's hard to tell which one is cooler since if you look up at TPU reviews both the Asus Direct CU II 670 and 680 tend to have higher temp compare to other sites.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, iTravis. I'm going to go with the "safe bet" that I already know the noise level of from using the cooler... (Gigabyte) :).

Thank you sir, I actually had it auto-refreshed but somehow didn't even notice... I caught it thanks to seeing your link! $399.99 + $4/ea prime shipping x2, awesome!

Ordered the Gigabyte on Amazon, upgraded to overnight.. Total out the door- 418.00!!

So glad I got 340 for both of my 6870's - For essentially $80 I am now going to be flying with no noise, less power draw and NO MICROSTUTTER!!!! WOOOOOOOOT!!

I forgot to mention this as well... 4xMSAA here I come!

considered the gigabyte, but waiting for a few to see what else comes out, preferably something overclocked more, because I'm not much of an overclocker.

My pair is already on "Shipping soon", woot :).

Bumrush, quite nice! That'll be a good upgrade!
