Ultra D is the 939 Socket board...he's looking for the older Ultra B. Good luck with the hunt though. I had one back in the day that I bought used from the forums here.

Is there a good reason you are wanting that specific board?

A good reason? No.. Lol. I'm doing a retro socket A build and am just trying to source enthusiast hardware from the era.

I understand the wanting enthusiast hardware from that era, was just wondering why you were wanting that specific model.

There are a ton of good 462 boards on eBay, and you are wanting one of the ones that is really hard to find.

Edit: and be very glad that somebody here actually had what you were looking for.

We always want what we can't have, right?

Lots of 462 boards on eBay, yes definitely. I actually already have an A7N8X Deluxe and NF7-S V2 sitting around, but the color scheme of the Ultra B will go well with the color scheme of the build. OC profiles and 4 SATA ports are an added bonus.

That said, I'm more excited than any person should be about a member actually having one of these. :)

    Hi Darren

Where abouts in the world are you based and would you be prepared to sell one of them?

I also have more socket a mobo's, cpu's and bh-5 / tccd memory than you can shake a stick at!

Its just the lanparty ultra b which is missing from my collection :(

They had gone off the boil by then ;) or other manufacturers had caught up, one of the two

The golden era were the NF2 and NF4 series

All the lanpartys i have in my collection are

    Socket 754 Lanparty NF3 Ultra
Socket 462/A Lanparty NF2 Ultra B (but borked so looking for a replacment)
    2x Socket 939 Lanparty NF4 SLI-D
Socket 939 Lanparty NF4 Expert (rare!!)
Socket 939 Lanparty RDX200 Crossfire (rare!!)
    Socket 478 Lanparty 875Pro Rev. B
    Socket 775 Lanparty 875P-T (775 with AGP!)

I am looking for an NF2 Ultra B to replace my broken one

Also half heartedly looking for (because they are so so ultra super unbeleivably rare) a Socket 939 Lanparty NF3 Ultra-D. Basically an AGP version lanparty for 939. I've been looking for one of these for about 7-8 years!!

I have an unbelievably silly collection of retro hardware from this period. That's just my Lanparty stuff. Not all my DFI stuff, as i still have Infinity's and vanilla versions of boards!

For a laugh recently i looked back on my ebay purchasing history back to beginning of 2015 (as far as records go back - but i starting collecting a couple years before that) and it was around £4,200

    Hiya
Im in Blackpool, England, and it looks like your very similar to me, as regards dfi's,

    3 x 754 nf3 ultras
    4 x 462 ultra b's
    1 x 462 ultra
    2 x 939 crossfires
    1 x 939 expert
    1 x 939 ultra d pcie
    1 x 775 lt x38 t2r
    1 x 775 p35 t2rs
    1 x 775 p45 t2rs
    1 x 775 lp dk x48 t2rsb plus { which im using right now, typing this, with a nice cool q6600 @ 3.1 }

and a load of others, abits nf7's, also including Soltek's, SL-75FRN2-L/R and the very rare to get one these days the version RL, [2 x sata 150]

As for memory, obviously DDR 1, well i wouldnt know where to start listing it all, ive got quite a few sticks lying around.

When you say your ultra b is broken, what is actually wrong with it ?.
I had the 4 leds of so called 'death' once, and all i did to bring it back to life was to just re-flash the bios plc ?.
Might be worth a try, sometimes modded Beta bios versions are better, check the web page bellow.
    http://www.lejabeach.com/DFI/BIOS/dfiultrabbios.html

If its just the ultra b board your after them i think we might b able to do a deal, if you cant get rid of the 4 led's at boot up.
Like i said previously i do have 2 boxed ultra b's, but i will be keeping them,

    Cheers Darren

    Hiya
Sorry to miss out about flashing the bios chip, its quite easy these days, not like in the past, you can do it yourself from another pc, with a vacant USB 2.0 port, on ebay you can get a PLCC32 programmer and software delivered for about £15 .
I think the chip in the Ulra B is a Winbond , { W39V040A } if my memory serves me right !.

Check out the item on ebay.

yeah i have the DFI lanparty UT NF3 250GB, board was a beast for overclocking, just sucked that socket 754 was already on it's death bed by the time DFI released the board.

it's ok they were ahead of their time before LED's became a thing, lol.

Your right, DFI started something that has led to the standard market trend today, for motherboard sales, its a pity though that the company lost some of there most initiative staff, which ultimately lit the blue touch paper to there ending, but hey hoe, if there was ever a mother board , that could/will be called a classic antique in years to come from know, it has to be a DFI, probably the Ultra B, because of its features at the time ,Bios options, 4 sata 150, 4 unused holes on board around CPU, Mmmmm, and even today, with a good Barton inside, 2.5 Ghz @ 1.725 V, STABLE,you can still do loads of things still at a good speed.

    Cheers Darren

Hi Darren. Thanks for the replies very interesting to read.

Nice to see a fellow DFI enthusiast and dare i say it hoader of retro hardware :p i thought it was only a condition that affected me!

I'm in Essex so a decent way. I'd be interested in doing a deal though and chatting further about our older hardware and stories. I find it fascinating.

Yes i'm awareof the 4 leds of death. I have tried EVERYTHING imagineable to get it going. Hotflashing, cycling of numerous cpu/gfx/ram combos etc, new bios and battery altogether pre flashed, even as far as inspecting the whole board with a magnifying glass to see if any little SMD's has been knocked off, and it doesn't stop there, the list is endless! I reckon i have at minimum a good 20 hours into this board in research and time trying to bring it back to life.

Whats really annoying though is i had two of these boards and broke one by crushing SMD's around the mounting holes circa 2009, then found another shortly after around 2012 but sold it along with loads of other stuff as i needed some cash at the time. Gutted looking back now.

I wonder who has the most ram sticks between me and you :D

I also have some ridiculously good stepping and low voltage XP-M chips, which i will be watercooling soon to get the most out of them. I have NF-7's, AN7, Ultras, Infinity's and christ knows what else!

I'll see if i can find a way to PM you on here!

    Hiya

Mmmmmm, 20 hours, thats a long time to spend, you didnt by accident put the wrong voltage gfx card in, 3.3 volt , if so that could be the reason, you have to think back to the last time the board ran good, and then it didnt ?, WHAT CHANGED, were you overclocking ?,did you change any hardware, even a second hand infected hard drive can cause issues to a motherboard, as i found out once.

As for memory sticks, this weekend coming i will be sorting though a few old boxes i have to see exactly what ive got, love the stable corsair Pro, led's etc.

And xp-m's ive got quite a few of them, not really pushed them though, only tested to see if they work, will do that in the future though.

Getting back to your Ultra B, check all of the capacitor tops on the board are they concave or convex in shape, that can cause an issue, the 4 led's ?.
If you get one that is convex, with white powder showing around it's 'Y' top, its Knackered !! . Needs replacing. but if you do slightly up-gade the capacitor/capacitors.
I stand to be correct but i think you have a bios to chipset 'read' problem !!!!, the bios can not read/see the mobo properly, hopefully its only because of the power thats needed to run the chipset's that is at fault, cheap challenging mend if this is the case.

The Ultra B is renowned for a slight variation in volts, and that it why i want to do a full voltmod on one of my boards, see the link below.

Many moons ago, i had a world record for overclocking a XP-M 1500+, AIUHB stepping, water cooled, via my Soltek motherboard, i bought 11 of these cpu's off eBay, brand new, for £ ??, lets just say for less than a quid each, only got 7 left now though, blown a few up now, unfortunately i was beaten by liquid nitrogen cooling, my next step is to phase change a chip , -50c, along with other proper cooling around the other motherboard chips, also to water/IPA cool my BH-5's, for insane FSB and stability, watch this space !!!.

    Hi Darren

Nope was the correct voltage agp card. Well, i a tually brought it as faulty! Thinking its probably just 4 leds and i can get it back to life!

I've got loads of corsair pro's but haven't got the PC4400 versions which ive been lookin for, for a while aswell

All the caps look spot on and so does everything else, thats why it remains such a mystery! Hey ho anyway, hopefully i can grab one of yours off you to put me kut of my misery ;)

That sounds really interesting on the insane overclocks! I have 3x sets of BH5 but have yet to push them to their limits
