Now if only AMD would allow 10bit OpenGL for Photoshop for example like Nvidia, I would consider an ALL AMD system but at this time, I am going 5950x and RTX 3080

Regardless of 6x00xt card that rig is going to be a monster strong computer. Good build, you'll love it.

Rumor is that the 6900XT is AMD exclusive card while the 6800XT and 6800 will have AIB's at launch. I heard somewhere Asus will have their ROG Strix card ready on Nov 18th

I hope this is true as I feel like AMD could actually put in the effort to have a system in place to prevent botting of cards sold directly through their site.
 
The three week wait is going to be tough. Hopefully getting a 5800x/5900x and a 6800XT will actually be possible.
 
The marketing charts are terrible in the way they present data. Each bar is not scaled the same thus making it look like it walks the floor on a 3070 when it may be a 3 to 5 fps spread.

The different testing really is tricky too, rage and sam, no rage no sam, just rage mode?

What if 37db is for non rwge mode and rage mode is some tornado?

The only one that seemed really genuine was the non rage non sam 6800xt. Seems a better guage of perfrormance comparison while the 6800 and 6900xt are sketchy comparisons.

I'm gonna try for that ASUS ROG Strix card but i hope ASUS QC is better than their 5700XT Strix card. Which had weird thermal issues
 
lol, AIBs with large stock pile of components meant for Ampere cards get shuffled around since Nvidia is only supplying GPU's at a drip rate, to making RDNA 2 cards. Could be the biggest AMD GPU win of all time, wonder how many AIBs are making large quantities of Rx 6000 series cards, ASUS? MSI? Gigabyte? AIBs are probably the biggest key for large quantities of RDNA 2 cards, unless AMD dramatically underestimated the demand and did not make enough Navi 21 chips.
 
About time AMD l’s time to shine again. Now that Intel is limping in the consumer segment after that 5xxx announcement.

Now that Nvidia is “supposedly” having stock issues AMD is poised to strike. I wouldn’t be shocked if Nvidia was playing possum waiting for AMD’s announcement to finally release actual stock of their cards.

Let the price wars begin! Hopefully Nvidia can align their prices, or if they choose to go the Apple route and continue to charge a premium.

I still don't understand the thought process behind this reasoning. Why on earth would a company waste a 2 month head start with their products to only release them once their competitor is on the market as well? Wouldn't it make more sense to use that 2 month head start to get your products into the hands of customers while there is no alternative?

Nvidia simply can't produce chips in any meaningful quantity, and they're in hot water because of it.

Would be a bit of a weird development considering they hinted strongly via twitter there would be good supply. Possible it's a recent issue, if it even is real issue.

Could be Nvidia, being labeled as the most valuable chip maker, pulled an Intel and got complacent.

I mean what else is there to do when your competition hasn’t produced anything threatening your position? I don’t feel bad for Nvidia in anyway. Like Intel, Nvidia deserves to be knocked down a few pegs.

To kinda put some logic behind the mindset of Nvidia playing possum is: consider their marketing budget. They could wait and see, lower their prices a bit, flood the market with actual stock, and flood the market with advertisements, in an attempt to drown out AMD.

I hope not personally, I hope Nvidia gets burned. They need to learn that cost is a serious issue for a lot of people. Not everyone wants to drop $700+ on one component.

With the new consoles on their way, a lot of people are going to find a lot of value in having a mid/high end PC they can just connect and play for $500.

As I’ve said in every post across numerous message boards: it’s not always FPS, availability and cost play a huge role in the success of a product. When your average Joe looks at PC parts and sees the cost to get equivalent performance on these new consoles most are gonna just get the consoles. Prices need to be brought down if PC gaming ever hopes to hold a candle to console gaming in terms of sheer number of users, the best place to start is pricing. Value adds, like what AMD does is a phenomenal place to start as well since it adds in things that the average gamer might not know of, or would have tried naturally.

Granted companies like MS, Sony, and Nintendo can sell their hardware at a loss since they can make it up in software sales, something PC hardware manufacturers don’t have the luxury of doing that. The option of adding other incentives, like AMD’s continuous promotions when you buy their hardware, add intrinsic value and the perceptible value to the end user goes up.

Like when I bought my 3600x and 5700xt I got four months of GamePass Platinum for free (equal value to six months of just the regular GamePass) which I fell in love with, and now pay for the monthly subscription. That’s not something I would have done naturally, I also got two games I wouldn’t have bought otherwise: Resident Evil 3, and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne master edition or whatever comes with all the extra goodies.

Things like that expand a gamers choice by letting them try things they wouldn’t try naturally, and it comes at zero cost to them. If Nvidia could adopt more of that then they necessarily wouldn’t have to lower their price to be a better value.

In a semi-nutshell:

AMD is probably the best consumer choice right now considering their price, performance, and value adds. While AMD isn’t cheaper on their lowest offering, to me it’s a better value considering the amount of VRAM, and goodies AMD always includes when you purchase their products.

Nvidia needs to adopt this, and quit trying to control the market while jacking up their prices. It’s going to come around and burn them if they continue this practice, and the hive-mindset that is prevalent in the PC gaming community is in for a rude awakening.

I hope the 6xxx series blows the 3xxx series out of the water in points where it matters: cost, and availability. As it doesn’t matter if the 3080 gets 120FPS at 4K if the card isn’t widely available, and is costing more than a vast majority are comfortable paying. AMD with their value adds even at $649 brings the cost/value in line.

I firmly believe that one of the the objectives of PC gaming is to make it appealing to the console crowd, and while price competition isn’t likely, value adds go a long way in making consumers feel they got a good bang for their buck.

There's literally a scale on the vertical axis, it's FPS, and they all start at zero. Doing a little bit of pixel counting, the 6800 ends up around 11 FPS faster than the 2080 Ti (or the 3070, rather), or about 15 percent faster on average.

This is all payback towards Nvidia for how they treated their AIB partners.
 
Food for thought: unlike Radeon 7, and to a lesser extent 5700XT, the AIB models shown so far for the 6800XT have been like for like with the GeForce models. Seems AIBs are confident enough to put their top brands on the product.


It also dawned on me that the PS5 has exactly half of the CUs of the 6800XT.

AIBs are all reference design. There is nothing stand outish as of now. However, new information is being released daily.

I'm not so sure on that, Asus went out of there way to say custom so many times and then they are recycling the designs from the Ampere release with an added AMD only Hybrid card.
Looking at the MSI cards and Asus cards I think he's right about those being a reference board, that Hybrid card can't tell.

I was reading into this, as I imagine we all have, and the underlying issue was apparently a lack of BGA substrate(s?).
If this is the issue, wouldn't we hear of this, as it is not AMD specific, but literally impacts the whole industry?

Yar, I took it as a good sign too. Even some more advanced stuff that hasn't been announced for the 30 series yet (Strix LC variant). Hoping we get a better look at Powercolor's Red Devil and Sapphire's Nitro lines soon.
