As expected AMD's RT implementation was pretty underwhelming. It looked like they just put a filter on the raster version. And no DLSS equivalent.

Gonna make for some interesting reviews. Seems like as we expected AMD's play is to beat Nvidia by enough at raster to make up for the lack of RT and DLSS.

Wow.... AMD went after Nvidia's throat.

The only thing they're missing is a DLSS equivalent.
We don't know about raytracing or encoder perf, or perf without a ryzen 5000 series cpu still. Hoping things go well but still grabbing a 3080 if I get the chance.

My ONLY reservation for AMD's new cards is does AMD have an answer to Nvidia's DLSS?

If they don't, then Nvidia will still crush them on games that support DLSS.

You do realize that AMD was beating 3080snwith DLSS enabled and thr AMD doesnt use such voodoo right?

I literally bought 2x3080's for Cyberpunk, I have zero plans for any other raytraced game announced so far and probably will end up turning it off if it disappoints me in immersion. You can already sign me up for 2x6800's for my nephews PC though, I look forward to the new toys I'm getting.

Wonder if the 6900XT will cause Nvidia to drop the price on the 3090. I could see a drop to $1200-1300. Otherwise the 3090 is an even worse value with the 6900XT in the picture than when just the 3080 was.

Source? AMD cards weren't pitted against the 3080 with DLSS enabled in the AMD presentation or any leaks I've seen thus far.

They are looking bad even if they push it at being $1499 if you get the founders *edition. I predict some broken spatulas right about now.

Rage! mode, C:rage::rage:L! Overclocking headroom and not pushed to the max already. Lol, the 6700XT is 18% faster than the 2080Ti, 16gb vs 8gb of the 3070, meaning 18% faster than the 3070. What is Nvidia going to do with the 3070Ti and price, does not look like they will be able to beat the 6800 with that kind of performance/memory/price. Nvidia would need a cutdown GA102, 12gb maybe of just DDR6 vice 6x and still be short on the memory and price if they can make them.

Anyways looking forward to samples being reviewed, did not hear when that date was.

To me the 6800XT looks like the sweet spot for price and performance, 6900XT would be fun if golden sampled chips, too bad it was not Liquid Cooled.

With the crappiness that is the availability of 3000 series cards. I really hope AMD puts a big dent to NVIDIA's wallet.

Nvidia has to sell thier cards by showing the maximum performance . Official reviews are out for nV stuff and these numbers are about what the reviews show.

As far as Amds claims, well its hard to backup any claims with sourcing and evidence until we have official reviews. But amd has no dlss and nvidia sells thier cards based on maximum all features enabled numbers and that includes their voodoo witch magic dlss.

As far as rays, I have no comment as they showed us nothing really but neither did nV if you ask me. Only optimized software reviews will show us the true numbers.

But no one gave two shits about rays until nVidia made you think about it. From a pure raster POV that matters more than rays period. Maybe we shouldnt assume AMD rt performance is whack and lets just wait on reviews then we can have that discussion.

The RT conversation is quite hilarious when you sot back and read how serious people are, zealous in deed at that.

It's not voodoo witch magic. It's called technology. This isn't a post-processing effect. DLSS is a tangible performance booster that yields similar IQ to a native res at higher performance.

Your rationale doesn't make sense as DLSS is only supported in 14 games. Even the AMD presentation has mostly games that don't support DLSS and shows Ampere cards trading blows with AMD:

The only games above that support DLSS are BF:V, SotTR, and W:YB.

Stop spreading fud. AMD's cards are great without having to resort to lying about Ampere performance.

EDIT: Included 4K benchmark screenshot.

Frames win games but only if you can actually see what you're shooting at! AMD NEEDS to make a comparable feature to Nvidia freestyle! I can't play warzone without it!

And does it show nv or AMD winning in those limited titles? AMD is claiming to smoke BFV in thier slide.

I owned a 2080ti and sold it and bfv only got that performance level with dlss on. So I know AMD has a very low chance they are comparing bfv with dlss off

Whatever, we must wait for real reviews otherwise its just internet arguing

6900 XT is trading blows with 3090, but only coupled with the new AMD processor. It's a few percent lower than that.
Still, at 999, that's one hell of a better buy than 3090, RIP Nvidia, no wonder they canceled high vram GPUs, lol.
I did notice AMD graph shows SAM and Rage Mode enable when competing against the 3090. Wouldn't be interesting to see how well it performs with those features off. I am still betting it will be just fine against the 3090 but by how much.

No. High refresh gaming, RT doesn't matter.
Only 60fps gamers are crying about it.
Yah. I prefer high refresh also, good point. Man, now I'm torn. Do I return this LG GSync monitor and opt for a FreeSync model and just go all AMD...dang............

But is Raytracing really worth the price difference?
Really depends on who you ask, RT is the future in my opinion, but it might not be fully implemented into games until Hopper/RDNA3, making RT for this gen not really a necessity.

Does it really make a difference if say its 5% slower for 2/3 the price without SAM and Rage Mode? Price wise the 6900xt is ridiculous.

If (thats a big if) AMD can deliver close/better than 3090 performance, I think the $999 is very fair compared to the 3090 price (which really isn't $1499, more like 1550+). Just my 0.02c

And where does it say DLSS is enabled in those limited titles? AMD would definitely show that they are beating a 3080 with DLSS enabled if that was the case. They wouldn't waste an opportunity like that.

Also, how does it make sense that AMD would beat Nvidia in games where DLSS is supported but trading blows in DLSS unsupported games?

You are spreading completely made up, unsupported fud.

Correct. There's not enough games, performance and overall visual impact for it to matter. Once we can get it run beyond 120Hz, it's will catch on big time.

I'm just glad that we can argue about feature set nuances like ray tracing and DLSS this round. It was boring watching NVIDIA stomp AMD on performance and AMD having to compete on pricing alone.

Regardless of what card you buy, I think we can all agree that it's very impressive that AMD has been able to beat Intel on performance and catch up to NVIDIA on performance while having a dramatically smaller budget than either company, let alone combined.

Well there are tens of thousands of PC games that do not support DLSS. The question maybe should be how many in the future will and/or if other similar technology will be brought out. The industry is not standing still on one proprietary technology, TAA is being improved, AMD has non proprietary tech that enhances IQ that works with Nvidia hardware as well, how nice of them. I wonder if they expanded the Radeon Boost game support which would allow you to run a game at a much higher resolution, better quality and yet when in action get great frame rates? As for RT, probably only newer titles that uses DXR 1.1 or higher, AMD hardware, optimized will we really know the performance. Current RT games are optimized for Nvidia RTX for the most part.

Now for those who care less for 4K resolution, want higher frame rates with 240hz+ monitors, looks like AMD further the lead over Nvidia. That will probably be talked about a lot.

Right now if you ask me DLSS and RT are useless features. I say in 2-3 generations they will be worth it then.

But, as of right now in my eyes they are useless. Just like the Nvidia latency BS they have, all marketing bullpoop.

Oof. 6900XT trading blows with the 3090 for $500 less. It's going to be interesting to see how Nvidia reacts.

It is, and it will sale as it is price very competitively to 3090, but not everyone is going to run a AMD 5000 series CPU so it will be interesting to see where the performance lands if you dont have those function enable.

Love it! This will hopefully force Nvidia to innovate more (looking at power consumption right now, but other features as well) and fucking slash prices.

I'm sad now that I got in early on a 3090 FTW3 Ultra when I did, but I'm betting the superior ray tracing performance will put me in good standing for hot new games coming out until AMD can improve their implementation (hopefully in RDNA 3).

Overall, I'm fucking THRILLED to have AMD back trading blows at the top! Only good things will come of it for consumers. (And I'm someone weighted towards Intel/Nvidia - my last AMD cards were a pair of 7990s that I couldn't get working with my (old) Dell DVI monitors, so I had to send both back).

Can they react? They can barely supply retail with the cards they shit out in September, which should now be blindingly obvious was a panic launch.
