Where does Vista store the Windows Update cache?

I'm having a little trouble getting some updates to install. I think the downloaded updates may be corrupted, as the install always fails. I did a little googling, but have not been able to come up with the answer I need. Can anyone tell me in which directory and folder they are stored?

Those links got me to the correct folders, and that's where it gets a little muddy. I'll back up before I make any changes and see what kind of luck I have. Thanks!
 
a backup would definitely be in order, system restore and or Acronis if you've got it, just incase
