Where did my USB thing go?

I went form Windows 2000 to Winodws XP Pro x/ SP2 and now I don't see that USB thing in the system tray. They one that lets you safely remove hardware. I have a USB thing plugged in, my wireless adapter, so it should show up...

if your USB thing you are talking about is a usb flash drive...you can remove it as long as it isn't writing data. Mine has a light on it's butt end...so when it stops flashing for a while, it's safe to pull out.


as far as the real problem...I got no idea. one would think there'd be something in the control panel for that...but there isn't.
