And be sure I'm not getting the old Asus PB278Q? Or how would I know?

And is the AOC Q2770PQU a better monitor? For gaming primarily

The AOC prob has slightly better image quality but the asus has no input lag so it will be better for gaming.

Yea I'm trying to figure out if I go to Microcenter and take a look at the boxes whether I'd be able to find a build date or something....

So with the help of NCX's advice, I picked up the monitor today from Microcenter - Asus PB278Q... (2014 Revision has little circles on bezel for OSD controls and matte black finish on bezel) Can't complain really I haven't found any obvious defects with it.

I've actually gotten permission from the wife to buy a new monitor, and I really want to get this monitor too. Only problem I have is that there are no Microcenter stores nearby, so I'd be relying on Amazon or Newegg. Amazon is by far my store of choice, price is better and I get Prime shipping.

Anyone have any luck getting these through Amazon? How about Newegg?

I've also heard rumors that it's only available in Europe, while some here have stated they've gotten them in the US?

The US 2014 version is still called Asus "PB278Q" even tho it is the revised version. I was able to determine it by looking at the picture on box. The Older versions had icons for the OSD controls on the monitor. Ofcourse, you would have to be able to see it physically.

Are you sure you have the new panel, though?

The comments on this Amazon review point out that the US refreshed PB278Q is not the same as the European PB278QR. They seem to indicate that the R is a Euro only model, and the US spec is simply a PB278Q with updated bezel and OSD.

I'm basing my assumptions off NCX's review..I'd like to think he knows more about the product than the average Amazon commenter.

That may be true, but I'd love to hear first hand that the US spec model definitely has the new screen.
