well, this question sort of popped into my head...........whats the most powerful 120mm fan?...........this isnt concerning noise......just RAW POWER!

i did do a couple searches on various websites and found that the sunon fan is the most powerful but then i hear all this talk about vantec tornado's and Delta's fans but i didnt find any of those fans on the sites i checked.

well, a link would be nice but u dont have to go out of ur way or anything, i searched the forum but got a bunch of irrelavent threads pop up.....hope i am the first to ask and if im not could u just politely post a link to the first thread and dont bitch at me for a few days before the post gets locked up.

oh yeah, and this is just for a case fan........keep in mind that im not planning to buy it since i guess it will produce a rather loud sound so price isnt an issue either

^^^^^^^^ what he said. I hope for your sake your deaf if you ever think of usin it.

I am running 3 delta 152cfm off of one fan controller with no problem. at the time, these where the highest output 120s I could find.

are we restricting this to DC powered 120mm fans?? :)

if not, an ac controller and some AC with the right fan might yield some really silly CFM numbers.

Has anybody got a clue as to what type of valtage these draw. I always wanted to use a 120mm fan for a more powerful handheld fan (battery-powered of course). I know it is crazy, but you need a good fan down here in Alabama sometimes. Also, how many batteries am I going to need (what type do you suggest?, etc)?

and missing fingers.

you know your going to want to touch it LOL

now that's covered...

if you can work a 254mm fan into whatever spot you are needing some airflow, the Comair Rotron Caravel AC CLE2T5 can stir up a bit of a breeze. It's rated for 815cfm. :D

Umm that will actually cause permanent hearing damage/hearing loss if listened to at that decibal level long enough. There would be no way that I would risk my hearing for some craze ass CFM. If you want that kind of cooling, than go water cooling... otherwise consult a hearing specialist and tell him about what you're about to do. He'll probably reccommend some snazy ear plugs for you so you don't start losing your hearing(which would start by losing the ability to hear upper range sound).

The GFB1212VHW Delta fan is more powerfull.
Try 220 CFM.

Luck......... :D

wow, i didnt know they made fans so powerful! and like, how much noise would some sound dampening mats or stuff like that bring down, lets say, 50 dba????

just curious.........

Check out Thermalright > Click on "Installation" > Click "XP 120 (K8)" > and see "Step 14". They put a GFB1212VHW Delta on the XP120 HS, and my heck it that thing a monster of a fan!

Here is a review of the Delta 120x38mm FFB1212EHE wich move air at 190CFM @ 4000RPM and 59.0dBA.

Here is a product .pdf (scroll all the way down to the bottom) for the GFB1248VHW that moves air at 220CFM @ 3400RPM at 59.0dBA.

Or maybe someone could work a way to hook up this EDMPAPST brand W1G250-CI73-52 (link is a .pdf). It moves air at 1054CFM with only outputting a mear 70dBA! Also, it wieghs in at a paltry 4lbs.

Sunon makes a 120mmx38mm fan that pushes 200CFM @ 4000RPM with only outputting 62dBA.

Couldn't a few layers of Dynamat fix the noise level a little....I would think the extra layers of Dynamat wouldn't matter because of the sheer amount of air being run through the case with these fans.

Also on the Sidewindercomputers.com site...they have (under left navigation-Case hardware) what they call the "Listening Room". They have recorded in MP3 format a lot of their fans....downloading it right now...will report back how well it sounds. :D

Reporting back....you should take listen to some of those fans....especially the 120mm YSTech fan....sounds like an actually jet engine starting up and running at full speed!

oooo.....i just came up with an idea! for u expirienced case modders, make a case into a jet (or put a computer inside a model jet, your choice ) adds wings and everything, and put some big ass fans on it with a motor and see if it will fly lol. i've seen it done for a car but not a jet.

Fatal fans are always a bummer.

It is hard finding some of them, but I am thinking of getting a few of the higher rated Delta ones from SidewinderComputers. I have never ordered from them, but everytime they are mentioned in a review or on some forums, it is always positive, even their reseller ratings are great. I am thinking of getting one of these monsters and one of these slow spinning three bladers to try out in my case (custom built case).
I have ordered from sidewinder, and they were great. The messed up my order a bit, but they were in the process of moving their operation, and just overall had awesome customer service. Would definitely recommend (more than i would recommend newegg in fact).

Thanks for the info. I have yet to order from them. I am in the process of building a lexan box to test my fans in....I went ahead and ordered the HD spindle motors and the first fan I just did a ghetto mod and placed it on the spindle motor.......it flew off and stuck in the side of the garage.....hence the lexan box. :D

Well, you might be able to mod one of these to fit if you have a large enough case and a second power supply: http://www.medibix.com/detail.jsp?view=detail&sku_id=847425&product_id=453425
253cfm @ 56db.

Otherwise go delta. Get some earplugs either way :p

I have a 150mm EBM tubeaxle in my case, best quality fans ever made. ;)

LOL, 128 watts to power it.

Although...err...hmmm...cut a blowhole, set it up to blow into the case instead of out...ooo...

Reminds me, don't have a link but I think I remember seeing where some guy took a turbocharger off of a car and connected it to the intake vent in front of his PC case.
