What's the highest CFM & Quietest 120mm Fan on the Market?

Regardless of cost, Do you guys know what the highest CFM & Quietest 120mm Fan on the Market today? I need to buy two...heh. There's always the Vantec Tornado..but I rather not have a vacuum inside my A05B.
 
I got a few SiletX's and I wouldn't call them trash but they should be half the price they go for. They are slightly quiter than my yate loons but at 3x the cost not worth it at all.

I know a few people who go ape shit over Nexus but I don't have any.
 
I have 4 Scythe S-Flex 1600 rpm fans, they are the best ive used IMHO as others have said, but youll hear them at full speed. I have all 4 on Zalman fanmates and have to turn them almost all the way down for my tastes, but im more of a dead silent PC kinda guy.
 
I always swap out for S-Flex's. Haven't been disappointed yet. 2xD, 2xE, 8xF, 4xG.


EDIT:
Only buy the F's at the egg if you are getting > 2 of them, otherwise frozencpu is much better. FCPU also has the G for $10 less than the egg. D and E are fine to get at the egg.
 
I went with the scythe's, but I chose the Slipstreams instead (68 CFM, 24 Db). I've personally never heard the S-FLEX or the slipstream, but judging from the specs and the review at Silent PC, they seem like the better choice. Mine will be here in a couple days, so we'll see.
 
There are quite a few that you can get including the Scythe S-Flex that I have on my 2x120mm radiator.

The Yate Loons specifically from PetrasTechshop medium speed ones are the best bang for buck performance. Some guy on ExtremeSystems did an extensive review for all the fans and found those to push a lot of air compared to the highest priced ones.

Noctua

1 thing to note once you get passed a certain speed they are all loud so stick with Medium 1600 rpm at the most.
Stay away from the SilenX not only do they deliver mediocore performance, the build material is crappy material.

Noctua NF-P12's are pretty good. They cost a little more than the S-Flex, but have high CFM and dead silent on full (not to mention a ridiculously long warranty).
 
What about a Vantec Thermoflow? I guess it doesnt count in the quiet category but teh one I have has a lifetime warranty and has specs of...

1300-2200RPM
54.3-92CFM
29-39dB
 
I'd been using these coolermaster fans for a while now and a big panaflo fan

but i'm suspecting the coolermaster isn't cut out for high resistance situations - makes a decent case but not HSF fan (IMO) - going to look into another option

these are pretty decent and SVC has them for 5 bucks occasionally
 
I was once involved with an exhaustive study on fans that are over 80CFM and low noise.

The winner ... Nidec TA450DC series.

Of course you can't typically buy these at any store, but on computer spare parts or on eBay, these are easy to obtain. Dell, H-P and other OEMs use them.
 
I went for the SY1225SL12SH (1900RPM,110CFM, 37dBA) only because I wanted to reduce the number of fans in my PC. I had up to 7 case fans at one stage (not inc CPU, NB or GPU) and went to this one + std PSU only as exhaust . In my opinion, I think I reduced overall noise and definitely improved temps.
 
I like the silverstone fm123's. Versatility is why. They are very quiet and move a bunch of air, and if you need them to, they will ramp the hell up and blow like 100cfm.

Man, for the build you see in the sig, I bought SOOOO MANY FANS... i wanted to be stocked up, and have the freedom to try some, and then try something different.

I had bought Scythe 2xSFF21F & 2xSFF21E's and they were very quiet, yet, I wanted the ABILITY to push more air if need be (it gets hot here in socal and damn that ambient temperature affect). So I installed the silverstones and.. haha!.. actually have them dialed waaaay down to the level of the scythes.. for 24/7 operation.. I guess what I really like about them is that I know that I can turn the up if i have to. ;)

I am curently using Nexus, and I'm happy w/ the fact that it's totally silence. But I'm looking for a 38 mm thick, 120 mm fan as well due to CPU, memory upgrade. So far, the only 1 posted in this thread is the above. (I simply won't look at silenx w/ their phoney spec.)

The above is 42 to 47 dB, is that acceptable?

Also, can anyone else name a few more 38 mm thick fan?

My rear sys. fan is NMB-MAT Model 4715KL, 12 V, 0.9A, Minebea-Matsushita Motor Corp. and I'm very happy w/ the dB level, and this fan is also 38 mm

The slipstreams are very good.

The only con i have for them is the motors get extremely hot during use.
 
I like the S-Flex series, i have four of them in my Cosmos case. I do have a Noctua CPU cooler/fan and it is very quiet. If I would have known how quiet it was I would have ordered Noctua fans for my case as well.
 
Silent PC Review did a very indepth review on a whole range of 120mm fans and then some 92mm and a few 80mm fans. They mostly concentrated on how quiet a fan is, but also told of the higher CFM fans. Here is a link to the site and to the section dealing specifically with fans. Happy reading.

This thing is loud (so loud that I sold mine), but it moves air by the bucket.

It should also be noted that I had it on a fan controller and I didn't see any increase in cooling going from 2000 rpm to 3000rpm.

great tip. thank you. I do a double check on the rear fan that I currently have, the spec. should be in the range of:

83-130 CFM (37-46db) to 50dB, 130 CFM depends on the details of the model no.

So I can live w/ 46 dB, if it is truly 46 dB and not above that
 
W/o opening another thread, say the noise w/i the computer is solely from fans, i.e., power supply fan, CPU fan, Rear sys. fan.

what sort of noise dampening toy would you buy to offset the noise?
