I currently have the Dell 2405 FPW which is a 24'' PVA lcd monitor. I've liked it but for gaming in counter strike it probably wasn't good enough because i am sensitive to stuff like input lag and latency which would explain why my counter strike skillz were affected when i switched from crt to lcd.

So i was then looking for an upgrade to S-PVA which is presumably better then PVA. So i looked at the Dell 2408 WFP which unfortunately has terrible input lag. I don't think the A01 would be much improvement.

Then came along HP 2475w which is a WUXGA wide screen IPS monitor which has some very interesting specs. The only things to be seen are how much is input lag and actual latency. And whether there are any defects like halos, ghosting, back light bleeding etc.

Anyway just wondering whats the difference between these 2 monitors anybody know ?

The 2480zx is a professional graphics monitor with an LED backlight and 133% wide gamut. The 2475w uses a standard (though wide gamut) CCFL backlight and achieves 102% gamut.

but basically the 2475w should be MUCH much cheaper and still be good is that right ?

My question though is if 2480 is a S-IPS, then what panel is the 2475 ? They said it's IPS, but do they mean S-IPS, H-IPS or just a regular IPS.

The 2475w is S-IPS. It *should* be a very good monitor with a decent price. We'll find out soon, hopefully.

2475w should replace 2465, it is probably S-IPS monitor.
It's calibration and sRGB emulation capabilities are unknown so far.

I tried calling HP 3 times but nobody answers. This was on a Monday during evening working hours. The phone called was specifically for my country as well ....

After following the automated instructions they finally ask me to leave my number. Did that.

Later i got a call so i rush down to answer. Guess what, it only rang for 4 seconds ..... how am i suppose to answer a call like that ?

I hope HP service for monitor's isn't going to be as terrible as their helpdesk service .... very terrible :X
