Whats pretty much the highest speed through OCing you can get on a 939 cpu?

I have a 939 x2 3800 @ 2.5 right now. I am not a gamer, so should I just be happy with that and stfu? Or is there another cpu out there that would give me a huge performance increase if I oced it?

i have a +4400 that was pushing 2.7Ghz.. it was on water, but still, i'm sure there are some opty's that'll run faster.

I have an opty 170 that runs 3.0GHz (3050MHz). Used to run on air (Zalman 9500) but now on water at lower temps.

S939 is at its EOL (end of life), so be happy with what you have (stfu), and save your pennies until 2.5GHz starts to seem slow, and then move on to the next generation of CPU.

I run a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 2400 MHz
OC 2735,37 MHz (Stable) with default aircooling.

A8N-SLI Deluxe:

Overclock Profile [Manual]
N.O.S. Option [Disabled]
CPU Frequency [273]
PCI Express Clock [130 Mhz]
DDR Voltage [2,85 v]
CPU Multiplier [x10]
CPU Voltage [1,550 v]
PCI Clock Synchronization Mode [Auto]

Hypertransport Frequency [Auto]
RAM: 2x CMX512-3200C2 - DDR-SDRAM PC3200 (200 MHz) - [DDR-400]

CPU temp roundabout 48 Celsius
CPU Core: 1.518 Volt

I think with watercooling 2,8 must be possible.

holy jesus. 3.6? Thats unheard of.

I get 3ghz every day. If theres some juice left in your cpu, why not get it out? What are your temps, cooling, voltage, ect?

With the 3800+ Venice single core it's not so easy to get a high OC.

You would think that's the same with the 3800+ X2?

Still the OC you can get is worth it...the computer feels more smooth after your OC.

So if you can get 2,8 or 2,9 on a 3800+ you did the right thing and that's good.

I get 2.55ghz out of an opty 180 dual core at 1.35 Volt + 100mv Addition

Runs at 64C on Stock air stock thermal full load on both cores

54-56C Max normally doing most taxing things like games, etc.

i got a 4000+ also thats doing 2.74ghz on air stable but i seem to max out there too. anyone know of anything that ca bump it to 2.8ghz?

edit: 4400+

Got a 4000+ San Diego from the 'egg a month or so ago, does 250x12 (3000) @ 1.425 vcore, stable, with an old Antec cooler/80mm fan.

Haven't tried higher yet (I know, I know) :D

2.9 barely on a x2 4600. I prefer 2.8ghz on it though.. Don't think the x2's can go too much higher than 3.1 without insane cooling.

Damn that's hot!

my opty 146 has been running for almost a year now doin 2750mhz @ 1.5v, on stock amd 4pipe cooling doing about 52c load I have gotten it up to 2850mhz stable at 1.55v, but that would be pushing the temps since I fold almost all day

It was a mistake for them to make socket 939 EOL so quickly, it is within 5% of AM2 and sometimes surpassing it clock for clock (depending on the benchmarks).

Guess you're a literalist. He didn't say anything about using extreme cooling solutions. The rest of us are contextualist i guess.

I have a 4000. currently stable at 3.0. Max load temps of 36-38 depending on temp of house. Air cooled.

Yeah I know thats hot,

Is it bad hot?

It shouldnt be. It makes me think the Heatsink is on wrong, come to think there was issues getting it on, Had to clip it down after having been seated.... Had to click things in.. Didnt seem right.

What are your bios settings? I have my 4400+ stable at 2.6, and its stable in windows at 2.75, but after about 10 minutes of stalker it crashes. I haven't played with ram settings, other then switching the HT to 4x and Ram to 333 instead of 400.
