What We Expect to See at CES 2025

“It's an era of renewal in not just laptops but desktop computing, too. At the very end of 2024, the Intel Arc B580 "Battlemage" GPU showed impressive gains over its predecessor and let Intel, at least temporarily, grab the 1080p gaming crown with the best budget graphics card available right now. With AMD rumored to be pivoting to mainstream and budget graphics cards, 2025 CES may be the start of something of a realignment in the GPU world (though no one expects Nvidia to cede the top spot).

At CES, we'll likely see new cards from AMDand Nvidia (and maybe Intel, too), as well as mainstream processors and chipsets. AMD (with Ryzen 9000) and Intel (with its "Arrow Lake" Core Ultra 200S) both introduced new high-end processors recently, but they haven't released lower-end models in these lines yet. Both companies could use CES to roll out closer-to-mainstream components, including the inevitable accompanying lower-cost B-series desktop chipsets for motherboard makers to adopt, and maybe even some more budget-friendly processors. The pickings for new low-end CPUs have been pretty slim of late; here's hoping for a reversal. —Michael Justin Allen Sexton, Analyst, Hardware“

Booth theys are more likely.
With it being so hard to tell who is actually a woman anymore, id rather not risk it. Not that they really bring any value to the events anyways.

I'm interested in the 9000 series threadrippers. The non-pro version or HEDT let's call it. There were some leaks, but hopefully they will announce it this CES so that we can be sure.

Thats funny I dont care who you are.
thats doesnt make any sense.

dont "expect" anything, thats always peoples problem "i expect, i expect" and then reeeeeeeeeing when the dont get what "they expect". we get what we get, not what we "expect". hope instead...

besides the new Nvidia lineup I'm looking forward to the new OLED TV's from LG, Panasonic (they are now back in the USA) and Samsung...Sony usually doesn't announce their new products at CES but the A95M QD-OLED should be incredible

Sad that people are finally getting what they ask for with the Intel B580 and price only to see the Tariffs take is all away with some much-needed higher prices.

It depends on if they've already been imported or not. It'd be nice if intel could get their shit together and at the very least manufacture future architectures here.

yeah this is what I am wondering too.... the timing for all these new electronics is on the eve of potential price hikes on all this stuff. smh ..

it's still an unknown I reckon.

That RTX 5070 offering RTX 4090 performance at $549 is going hurt some feelings.

Hopefully that includes 4k performance and not just 1440p and 1080p comparables.

interested in HL3, SteamOS/SteamMachines part 2, steam controller, maybe a new valve hmd.

Yeah, that's what I'm interested in too. I've been enjoying my PS5 Pro a lot lately (mostly that sweet suspend option and UI), but I'm sure all it would take would be a steam console to take my attention away.

At this point I'm most interested in Switch 2 info. Either in the form of major "leaks" from software developers, accessory makers, etc. or straight from a horse's mouth.
I suppose I also have some curiosity about HDMI 2.2 and when we can actually expect anything to use it. It took HDMI 2.1 a loooooooong time to actually show up, so it'll be interesting to see if any TV or AVR companies will be talking about it.

So no threadripper announcements this CES 2025?:(

LG and Panasonic abandoned their MLA panel technology and are using a new 4-stack panel this year for their TV's...
