This is a sort of a hardforum.com survey thread in which I want to gather data as to what cards are currently owned by users and guage as to how games should be developed and what is the user base that they should cater to. This is and will be posted in multiple forums to gather as much data as possible.

Please do not turn this into an nVidia versus ATi thread. Also I am asking about the primary Video Card(s) that you use for GAMING only. So if you have 2 systems that have a 9800 Pro and 5900XT but you use only one of them as gaming then check mark only 1 option. If you indeed use both of them for various games there is the 2 or more option with a specify thing.

Input will be appreciated.

p.s. Please note that 9800SE comes under ATi R3XX/ RV3XX Mid Range. I am considering cards only on stock settings and without modifications. If you have modded the card and run it 24/7 at those settings than please check mark the ATi R3XX High End option.

p.p.s. Others option is for cards from vendors other than ATi and/or nVidia

****IMPORTANT****

Please pick the correct slot for the card or cards that you use primarily for GAMING.

For example if you have a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 to play counter strike only and 5950Ultra or a 9800 Pro to play all of your other games chose NOT the 2 or more option but the Radeon or nVidia option.

I can see that people chosing 2 or more are just because they have cards lying around. It is sort of distorting the results and I would have to dig through posts to actually make sense of the poll.

One more thing is that if you have a card coming on the way and ofcourse it will be your primary card for gaming please chose the highest option possible. For example if you have a Radeon 9800 Pro and have an X800 series card on the way and will use THAT for primary gaming (duh!) then chose the X800 series option.

If you have two or more cards belonging to the same category (for example a Radeon 9700 Pro and a Radeon 9800 Pro) please chose the Radeon R3XX High End Option

My main system has a x800pro (which I just got today infact), secondary has a 9800pro, 3rd has a 5700ultra. I usually play 2 accounts on MMORPGs so thats what I use the second system for, the third is the one my family uses the only games that system runs are java based.

sorry dont game, buried that condition too far down
so I didnt see it till after the vote,
maybe you should have included that in the title and poll

I voted 2 or more cards. I currently have a 9800Pro 128 meg made by VisionTek. I have a X800XT PE on the way from CompUSA. Hopefully it will ship when they say it will and I won't have to sit through another release date bump. And I did own at one point in time a PNY GeF3Ti200 and a PNY GeF4Ti4600. <---Great cards in their day.

-edit- I will still use the 9800Pro in a decent Dell machine and the X800XT in my new rig. I will use both cards so my ' 2 or more' vote counts.

I have a FX5900XT and a Radeon 7000 Series.

Yes, the 7000 is old, but it's still capable of gaming, Warcraft III, Counterstrike etc.

9800 pro, and geforce4 mx 440 pci 64mb for my old gateway, that i put in a new case, and that didnt have a agp slot. it was some msi deal... never did like msi

i'll go 64 bit in a year or so, then get a whole new rig... (when i actually make more than 5.70 an hour... stupid high school)

I have 3 cards currently handling my gaming needs. Geforce 3 ti200. Geforce FX 5900XT. And a soon to be rma'd geforce 6800U

9800 PRO WOOT.... no need to upgrade since 99% of the games in the market dont even support the new features of the x800 and 6800, and won't for awhile.

x800pro on order to replace 9800pro (sold) and the other machine has a 5900nu.

I also have an 8500, Ti4600, Ti4200, GF3, original Radeon 64 vivo, and a couple voodoo3 cards hanging around (not in use). Probably a few more siting on the shelf too.

I will also incorporate this in the original post.

Got my old machine with a 9700pro and this rig with a 9800XT, waiting on my X800XT PE.

Don't bundle the x800 into that 'doesn't have new features that today's games don't even support' cause thats the 6800. the x800 features are supported.

Leadtek Ti4600 in main machine
ATi 9600Pro AIW in HTPC

Game on both :)

2 9700 Pros
GF4 4200Go (NV28M in laptop)
FX 5200 AGP
FX 5200 PCI
FX 5900 128MB
6800GT coming soon <3 BB deal

ATi Radeon 9800 PRO 128mb
ATi Radeon 9200 128mb (regular)
ATi IGP 340m 64mb (Lappy)

had the X800 pro in my main rig ...sent it back to get a 6800 Ultra ..

until the 6800 arrives I am using my back up 9700pro AIW ..so marked the 6800 on the poll because thats what I will be using (and would be using right now if it were here)

..i guess I could list the 5 other gameable video cards I have laying around here , but thats not what the starter of this thread was asking for ... :)

GF4 Ti4600 in my main rig, S3 Trio 64V+ in my old, crap rig for playing Xcom and Red Alert.

What does a mobility radeon 9700 fall under? It's about around a 9600XT, but it realy isn't a card.......

anyway, I also have an nVidia Riva, but that's not realy for anything other then internet.

9800np died
So I have a 9500pro at 400/303 for gaming and a 9600XT downstairs for benching.

I picked ATi Radeon ATi R3XX High End (9700/ 9700Pro/ 9800/ 9800Pro/ 9800XT) because that is my main video card but I own a few.

9800 Pro
9600 Pro
GF4 Ti4600
GF3 Ti500

Also some other misc stuff not worth mentioning that I put in web browsers, servers, etc.

Asus Radeon 9600XT/TVD
Matrox G400 (part of the Matrox RT2000 Editing card set)
ATI Radeon 7000
ATI Radeon 7000
ATI Radeon 7000

I just upgraded to a AIW 9700 pro from a Radeon 8500 about two weeks ago in the main gaming rig.

Best upgrade I've ever had, and I've had cards back to the 1MB Tseng Labs ET4000. Only disappointment was the lack of hardware Truform.

Still using a Ti4200, that I like to keep clocked somewhere in between Ti4400 and Ti4600 speeds. *sigh* The Ti4xxx series- the last time nVidia was truly on top (for a while, at least).

Lets see... lots of these. Hell I've got 7 rigs (one's a 486 w/ busted psu...)
AGP unless otherwise specified.
Main Rig: 5900nu 128MB + GF2MX200 pci
iMac: 9100 128MB
server: Riva 128 4MB
Ultra 10: Creator 3D (Sun UPA slot) + onboard.
P200: Some old 4MB S3 pci card.
iMac guts in ATX case (not booted in over a year...): Onboard. I think it's a Rage chip.
Broken 486: #9 GXE64 (S3 864, 2MB, VLB)
In a box: Matrox Parhelia Retail 128MB, Voodoo2 12MB, another old 4MB S3 card.
I've been meaning to sell the Parhelia, and once I get a 6800GT the 5900 moves to the iMac & the 9100 goes in a box as a backup card.

Ok, so I've got 10 graphics cards, plus a couple onboard chipsets.

Then if you add in all the stuff I've given away over the last few years... 5900XT (b-day, brother), 9600pro (x-mas, dad), GF2MX400 (x-mas, brother), G400 (used, dad), Millenium I 4MB pci (used, friend).

I have:
Visiontek X800pro 256mg on order
ATI 9800pro 128mg
PNY GF4 ti4200 64mg
Visiontek GF2 MX400 64mg PCI
