What to use for 7800GTX's VIVO functionality.

I recently overhauled my computer and bought a EVGA e-GeForce 7800GTX KO Ac3 edition. The card has VIVO and I was wondering what software I should use to capture video.

If you are using windows xp you can use windows movie maker it comes with the OS it may be under your programs menu or programs > accessories > movie maker.

There are quite a few programs though third party wise.

fraps can do this even

Adobe Premiere which is probably a bit much for you or you can use Virtual Dub

You to will need to go to the nvidia site for the wdm driver to get full functionality. I did exactly that and everything works perfectly.

Once you run that you can use what software that came with your card or another app for editing and capture

Does the video capture work well? I just received (gift) a Plextor Convertex analog capture/video converter.. Also just built the machine in sig. and the GT has VIVO.

Anyone compare the two? (or something comparable?)

You'll probably get better quality out of the ConvertX than the video input on the GT (YMMV with some CPU intensive noise reduction and higher quality compression codecs).

But why would you want to do software encoding when you already have a nice hardware encoder?
